Manual Cam Chain Tensioners

    Why are these newer bikes needing these?

    Is it just a ploy to sell the aftermarket parts?

    I have a hard time believing all of these modern designs requiring the antiquated manual adjustment.

    My DR650SE went over 80,000 miles without needing a cam chain, guides, or MCCT.

    What gives?

    Instead of taking the time to sort out the carb. to get a smooth idel, the cam chain gets the blame and in with a manual tensioner.

    Some people equate chain noise with a fault.

    Previous generation of Harley TwinCam motor had auto adjusters that were too highly sprung which wore out the tensioners until they grenaded into the motor... Still took 30k or so but sucked when it happened.

    BMW auto adjuster failed leaving me with a really noisy motor but it still functioned.

    Auto is nice but not without its problems.
