I don't know if you heard about one of my neighbours who managed to get a replica in the newcomers race. Chris only has the use of one arm following a mountain road motorcycle crash on open roads.

He has become a local hero following his efforts...and deservedly so too :clap

Oh yeah! Followed his progress all week. Also saw him going round at Jurby. What an incredible achievement! Unfortunately I was helping an English lad with his pit stop, so wasn't out on the circuit to watch him, or get a decent pic.
    That man deserves ultimate respect.:bow

Yer man Bates's cr750 (on the left in front of the green bike) was gorgeous, considering ripping off the colour scheme for my cb550.

It's a shame we never caught up. Next year, I hope.:1drink. You may know this bloke as well, our close neighbour, and top bloke, Shaun Leonard. 2 replicas and several pints, happy man!
For those that don't understand; having one of these on your shelf is a major achievement. It's no easy gig!

I was at the Creg when Michael Dunlop came through on his 124MPH lap on this bike:huh:huh! Had a pint in my hand at the time, probably should have been a camera! Was the most spectacular I've ever seen there, for sure :eek1
    Unbelievable.

Oh yeah. The Poms are good at that! And obviously it works!

Agostini's bike. I know this, helping to unload it!:D

Adjustable swing arm pivot. In the '60's. who would have thought? Nice shade of red.

The other one. They never did get it happening quite right.

    Love your work boot!

2 1/2 weeks to go for my trip. Not long until the Island for you! Looking forward to those photos.

7 rows of bikes, stretching back well over 200 metres. That's quite a few! All sorts and capacities, lining up for evening practice. So if you happen to be near the rear end, the likely hood of you getting even one timed lap in is fairly remote...and you need to complete a minimum of 5 laps to qualify. Did I mention this is no easy gig? A couple of days lost through weather, red flags etc, and forget it....

Even the seasoned TT pro's like Cam Donald are over the moon to finish 2nd, in the 350Classic...

While we're on the Cam Donald thing, this is his 500 mount. Not a bad looking piece of kit.:huh

Big revs for a 500 single...

Too many mayhaps. Split the cases after 1 1/2 laps..

Which left me free to do other stuff, rather than give Cam his pos, +/-, at the Gooseneck.

A shame really. He looked up for it, and was gaining big time...

Jan is quite a guy. (In a paddock full of them..). He's been developing this race bike for a long long time, racing all over Europe and here on the Island. A one man band, doing most stuff himself, like laying down the engine, cold air ducting to his homemade carby, his cute little cable linkage on the front brake, ( copied by many top teams..), and a heap of other stuff.

Good enough for consistent 90MPH laps around the Mountain Course, on his 'slow' engine this year, and a finisher.

I just hope that I have the energy and drive he has when I'm 72 YEARS OLD!
    What a guy! Inspiration. :freaky

    A day in the life....
Our mate Col has been racing his 500 Honda at the Island in various guises since 1981. Also races it non stop in the UK and Europe. His trophy cabinet is fair loaded.
So having lost a day to weather, then having a serious detonation issue, which seized the second ring to all pistons, ( IoM fuel is notorious...),we have one last attempt to put in 2 laps to Qualify...
Parts are ordered from the 'big island' overnight, and we do what we can to get ready....

The little girl on the left (13 yrs old),rides a ex Nial/Taylor McKenzie 125GP bike, and embarrasses a lot of male adults!

    Morning. First things first....

    Coffee!

    Reinforsments arrive, but no parts!!

So it's Plan B. Make do with what we have. Put an engine together.

The machine shop...converting from Magneto to Electronic Ignition.

    The piston polishers club..

    Appearance still important.

Coming together, with time getting short....

    Startup!

To scrutineering. Next to the ex Johnny Cecotto Yam 500....

All good. Ex Eddie Lawson Yam behind....ridden by Mark Miller...

Last chance. But at least we're there..in the madness.

Not sure we needed that. ( The laughs never stop.)
