I'm fed up with Winduhs and want to run MapSource on my Linux box. I've learned that MapSource 6.13.6 runs in Wine on Linux. Too bad Garmin no longer has MapSource_6136.exe available to download. The file is probably about 50M. Is there a copy anywhere that I can download? If not, do you have a copy that you're willing to put on an FTP site where I can download it?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep------------that's a handy Linky----------as I won't run anything newer than 6.12.4 as it's has a special thing in it's utility menu I use all the time that disappeared in later versions.

Hey BigDog, can you comment what that utility is? Its probably something I used to use and forgot about it. I just grabbed that version off that link, but before I go install it, I'm curious what it is?

BTW, does anyone remember in the really old versions of Mapsource, probably back around v3 or 4, there was a tracking tab and with your GPS hooked to the PC via a serial port, you could track yourself live on the computer screen using the GPS. I guess that was back before most of the GPS actually had really good maps built into them, so you used the computer screen instead. I used to use that a lot back when I had a Garmin GPS III+. It later became nRoute and was taken out of MapSource, but then eventually was discontinued all together.

Hey BlueLghtning---------in the Utilities pull down menu of version 6.12.4 there is a selection called "Unlock Maps" that was and still is handy for me. I think it disappeared after newer versions.

Yes-----------I use to do the same thing with the old (really old) gps's from garmin and hooked them to a laptop in the truck. Seemed really neat at the time---but I guess not to much use now. I had forgotten all about that till you mentioned it.
