Changing tires on the GS is easy. Get a real valve core removal tool, never use the silly plastic cap. But really, just change them at home. Lugging a set of tires around is a huge pain.

Any chance of adding a Hunter Mountain-Teakettle Jct.-Racetrack-Ubehebe Crater ride to either Thursday or Saturday???

When I read this I almost spit out my beer.

Thought the comment was related to Joel's naked hot tub photo shoot. :eek1

Agree with Tim, change them at home. 300+ miles will be a good run in for your tires before hitting dirt roads in DV.

Also, bring tire plug kit with extra plug cords and rubber cement

Make sure to inflate them to 36/40 for the trip. You can lower the pressure when you get to DV.

PSR told me while UPS will deliver, they don't like too since it is so far away. They don't even have a real address. UPS comes, they only come once a week or when they have a few packages to delivery. So it is not timely.

I had this discussion last week when I was making small talk at the gas station.

Do we have a rough mileage between fuel on this trip? I see its a 150 mile ride but is there fuel? I'm on my Husky instead of the super-tanker and fuel management will be tricky but doable.

NP FF I just wanted those in that site 33 area to know that they can spread out a bit since they'll have 2 fewer tents to accommodate. :thumb

The bike is, as always, ready and the only question left is how much extra gas I'm going to carry. (4.3 x 35mpg (street) - 10% for dirt +3% for short shifting when possible -4% for exploring = 1 extra gallon should do it) Math is hardÂ… :evil

Between everyone in the group we should be fine. I don't have the track, but I assume we are coming back on the hiway from Ubehebe. There's gas at Stovepipe wells, almost all the way back, but I'm guessing that is at about mile 125. Perhaps others can confirm.

Greg and I are splitting off at Ubehebe and stop up at Scotty's Castle. Any others in the group that want to do that are welcome as well.

I have a couple of liter msr bottles you're welcome to borrow and bring in your backpack. I also won't need the full gallon and a half out of my kolpin pax, so you're welcome to half a gallon there.

    Wait..

I thought you were going to pit there on Friday?

    Which is it?

If Sat I will make sure to load up on the paintballs to do a drive by as I go past there in the 4x4...

Pink, its a color I am sure will look good on you....

So if you do this Sat then who is running gas on Friday or am I just so out of the loop it doesn't matter anymore?

    :huh

I don't know about Friday. I was planning on riding around the south end of the park that day. No tanker unless somebody makes arrangements.
