Still possible to sign up?
Looks like there is still space on the list, follow the instructions on the first page of the thread
Sure thing- As we get closer, I'll start taking pre orders on fuel, beverages, spare parts, whatever you think you might need out in the middle of "nowhere". I can also haul your stuff out to the hot springs area if you'd like- pending space in my truck. I want to shout out to any other HAM radio Operators out there- Please bring your radios and lets try to host a radio relay safety net to help our fellow riders out in case of mishaps.
There are no repeaters out there so we'll have to be simplex, either a 144 or 440 band.
Pablo was a terrific host out at the springs last year. Was my first visit there. He shoved a beer in my hand and said 'Drink'. Thanks Pablo!!
It's a long way out there, seems like we rode for hours to get there, only to have to ride back. IIRC it's about 65 miles from PSR. Saline Valley road is very rocky, but there are some smooth sections to make up some time as well. Easy to miss the turn off. It is also farther off the main road than you might suspect. It appears as an oasis way off in the distance. One of the most remote places in the country and well worth the effort to see it. We need to setup a group ride out and back. We stopped up at Hunter Cabin on the way out. That's probably what made it seem so far because the trip back was easier and shorter.
Pretty fish pond under the palm trees. Great place for shade and a lunch stop.
Thanks Chris for the kind words-
Looking forward to seeing you out there again
New Baja Designs Squadrons and a set of Safari tanks, installed and ready for DV.
Gotta make up for lost time with not making it out last year!! Paul and I will be there representing Adventure Motorcycle magazine and will be giving away 5 subscriptions at the raffle and will be bringing other hard copies to give away until they run out.
Thanks to Keith/Airborn Dad who popped my Goler Wash cherry two years ago, I'll be doing something a little more calm this year...the hot springs.
Ready for some more fun fireside festivities...
Can't wait to catch up with old friends and new ones. See all you inmates there...
page 1 and paypal will get you in.
folks, those riding in will be easy to accommodate. truck and 2 people should be easy too. big trucks and RV, you will be on the waiting list (still have to pay up front and if you don't get a spot, you get a full refund).
yesterday was the cutoff but those who wants in, act quickly, and gotta pay immediately and we'll let you slide. the official deadline can be anytime this coming week.
sounds like a plan pablo. last year, you were the giver. this time we can get someone to collect the warm springs dues and get this to a good start.
pabs, how much gas do you think you'll be able to haul out there? that will be the key.
folks, you still have to plan to carry as much gas as you can. the way i see it, pablo's offer is good for added security.
yes, the RADIO thingy, let's put together a group. the san diego riders are good on this department and i already asked them to help.
hi nicole, gotta be great again to see you and paul. and yes i love big hugs....
big thanks to advmoto for their support. we had a lucky winner last year, and this year we will have FIVE LUCKY WINNERS....daym. awesome mag, i enjoy mine and always looking for the next issue. please don't ask me where i keep them...hehe.
I have 4 x 6 gallon Jerry cans. If someone will let me borrow more, I can probably fit 3 more for a sum of 42 gallons in easy to refuel Jerry cans.
PLUS- I have a spare 14 gallon on board fuel tank where the old spare tire used to go:eek1 that I can tap into in an EMERGENCY & I'll still have my stock 14 gallon tank for my own truck :huh.
grand total: 50 ish gallons of fuel for bikes!
ALSO- bare in mind, this was South Pass(route to Saline Valley Hot Springs) in the 2011 March Madness trip...
Yup, big thanks to Pablo for the gas and the beer, I'm hoisting mine in the background in a salute to Pablo. And don't forget RJNutt who selflessly offered another gallon to me after Joel and my GPS mis-adventure.
Let's all change Espi's little faces next to his old bikes listed in his sig to faces, and give him a bike to ride for day trips from the hot springs!!!
Just wanted to put up my article on the 2011 DV Noob Rally that was published in our magazine for those involved in the fun and debauchery...
Let's create some new scandals for 2013's coverage!!
