Thanks Chris. I just spoke with a MNF public relations officer and someone else from the incident management team to see if there is anything we can do to support the firefighting effort. They say they've got everything they need and have the fire at 35% containment.

Help will be needed weeks/months later to rehab trails. I've left word with a MNF OHV trail manager to let us know how to get involved and I'll share whatever I find out here.

Meanwhile, you can check here for current fire info: http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2998/

Here is a very large map showing the burn area as of this morning. A lot of OHV trails have been burned out...This doesn't include the Sites Complex fires to the east of East Park Reservoir.

Wow, just saw news coverage on TV of the fire, looking up from Stonyford towards Fouts Springs ...

It was like the Burning of Atlanta scene from Gone With the Wind ...

Saying a prayer for the residents and firefighters ...

Quote from a co-worker who is also a volunteer fire fighter working on this one:

“There are no more riding trails totally obliterated. “

Granted, it's not ALL of the Grindstone District, but purt near.

    That sucks big time.
Perhaps I missed it, but was a cause of the fire disclosed?

The figures I was given yesterday are equally devastating: "150 miles" and "2/3 of the trails".

Still "under investigation" per the link from my earlier post where the map came from.

A couple more updates from Don Amadore on his blog here: http://thegeneralsrecreationden.blogspot.com/

Media has not reported the effect the fire will have on OHV recreation this fall and winter.
Of course not...we're all second class citizens, right? :huh

My favorite higher-elevation trails are between the fire and their established lines from Letts Lake to Goat Mtn. :-(

Just discovered Letts Lake last month on an epic weekend adventure. Total bummer.

That's good news, the cooler weather is helping.

The Robbers Fire near Colfax and Foresthill is almost contained and most of the evacuated people get to go home today
