Oh yeah.....Fuck you and your heated jacket liner :ken
    :dizave It was cold

    <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

That's hilarious!...suffer you big engined bastards. :rofl

I'm sure this heated gear is pretty similar, but the brand i settled for hits the "G" spot. :nod

    Will send pm.

AJ, try the Gerbings brand of heated gear. Vests or jackets & gloves.
    Generally regarded as the best.
My buddies hate me when I'm wearing it and they are freezing their tails off!
    And I am warm...
Sounds like a good ride you had. :thumb

That's what i was trying to say, hence the "G"...whatever.

Some sites wont let you "advertize".:huh

Gerbing micro wire & multi control is where it's at.
Doesn't show any draw on the volt meter on the KLR.

    Well worth the money.

    Let me elaborate,
8am, somewhere near Parkdale. It looks pretty good today,
It feels really cold. 24 degrees still.
Well, I said I was IN, and the roads SHOULD be clear.....

There was a decent amount of packed snow and ice on 35 from Mt. Hood Meadows to the 26 interchange. I didn't stop in those places :eek1,

but on this sunny slope of road, with Mt. Hood shining up there, a picture felt mandatory.

At Government Camp is a basic Diner called Huckleberry's. Same owners forever, I think,
never outstanding food, but always pretty dang good with plenty piled on the plate.
I had a delicious BACON FILLED Mt. Hood Omelet & forgot the pic.

Getting ready at Govy for the haul down 26 towards the dry side..

We were thinking about the Hwy 216 shortcut to Maupin, but....
Not today.....Shimnasho Cutoff, here we come

It was much warmer at Maupin,
    [IMG]

The Bakeoven Rd is sweet, not because of the views, not because of any especially curvy corners, but because it is many miles of EMPTY & smooth two-lane blacktop.
Somehow, we forgot to stop and take pictures along here...VRoooooM

Shaniko scool's new green coat of paint looks very nice
    [IMG]

That sweeeeet curvy road down the hill to Antelope:

Antelope is not what it once was in it's heyday, however
    [IMG]

Hmm, the short way to Madras?....Nope. Let's go the long way through Fossil.
.......And play "Ditch the KLR" :lol3

Clarno Grange is located in what was once part of "The largest Ranch West of the Mississippi" that stretched all the way back to Bakeoven.

The only Gas Station left in Fossil (even a place called "Fossil Fuel" doesn't sell gasoline anymore :lol3) is this sorry little dump that was up for sale.
    Forever.

Must not be very profitable, because when Mortimersickle tried to pay with a Credit Card,
the lady attendant says they can't take cards, because "somebody forgot to pay the phonebill" :huh

    Address is "6 9" :evil
    [IMG]

Hmmm. 2:15 PM, and we're in Fossil, a long way from home.
Hwy 207 is a great road to Mitchell, too good to stop for pics, apparently.

Once in Mitchell, it was a 47 mile haul on Hwy 26 to Prineville.
We gained some time here on this empty Hwy, boooy...

Mort felt inclined to delete "Max Top Speed" from his GPS when we stopped for a rest in Prineville.

No more stops until CJ's Chevron, It was getting late now, and Hwy 26 in the dark around Mt. Hood was a little less fun then on the trip East this morning
    [IMG]

    Back in Parkdale, 7:15 PM.
    Yep.

    Motorcycles are fun.....

    And your excuse is...? :D

We started out with breakfast at the Huckleberry Inn in Government
Camp- good food, the bacon and cheese omelet actually had bacon in it. :dg

Squishy showed up to join us for the ride. Pleased to meet you Squishy. :wave

I had been concerned that the shady section of 216 might have some icy spots, but when we got there, we found that it had only one... unfortunately is stretched form 26 to undoubtedly Pine Grove.

So, with a very cautious uie, we continued on 26 to the Kah-Nee-Ta turnoff, on through Wapanitia, and back to 216 to Maupin.

We tried to stop at the Stonebridge for a cup, but they were closed. No matter- we had Bakeoven waiting. :ricky

Well, I got this far with my report when I decided I had a few things to do first. I got back to it just now, and I see Apple Jam has posted pretty much everything I had planned to say (and, has done a better job than I would have.) So, I'll just toss in a couple more pics and call it good.

I was just trying to catch up with Flash, AKA Apple Jam. The stool pigeon GPS showed that I had exceeded 55 mph- maybe even 56.

Dirty lights, dirty face shield, dark road covered with a shiny substance, maybe water, maybe ice. :eek1 No, not fun.

That picture of that road is in many a moto rider's dreams.
Don't ya just wanna go there?

Squishy gets that KLR up on it's back wheel, faster than KaTy M needs service again....

Actually, I had just got my big valve service done, and she wast fast & furious once again.
So I had to properly....road test it !

I used to think I needed a Ducati some day.
After rides like this, on a bike like KaTy M, that Duc doesn't seem so neccessary anymore

It doesn't make me still WANT a Big Red Ducati any less, however...

The first time I rode a KLR (years ago, a blue, green and white one), I was impressed how easy they are to wheelie.......when I can get on a bike for the first time and comfortably ride a wheelie for a half block...........that's a good wheelie bike in my book :D

I'll bring the Director's Cut to Hells Canyon (it's a little longer.)

Actually, I thought the KLR did very well, considering the open roads.

I just got really tired of saying that.
And as soon as it was gonna hit 40 degrees, I had to get out.
Thanks for coming with me, MortimerSickle & Squishy !!

Just watching that video again of that uphill curvy climb towards Bakeoven coming out of Maupin.......

    Oooooh, goosebumps and adrenaline :clap

EDIT: Squids on Sport Bikes doing that VERY SAME ROAD from Shaniko to Antelope!
.........Maybe leaning a bit further into the corners than my Adventure bike, however....

Now THAT's why I want a Ducati someday.
