max trailer size/weight?

    I'm looking to pare down my four-wheeled collection by eliminating my F150, which I use solely for the occasional Home Depot trip or to haul around a project. I'm thinking about getting a trailer small enough to use around the city on my GS rig, but solid enough to tow behind my car if I need to do a longer trip.

    Will a 5x7 trailer like this one, weighing in at 305lbs, pose any problem for me to poke around behind my R1150GS @ 45-50mph tops on short trips?

    I have a 40" X 48" trailer that I pull behind my GS rig and it does real well with it. I have hauled my XL500R behind it at 75 down the Interstate with no problems and regularly haul the Rokon with it. The trailer weighs about 120# and the XL is around 340#. The Rokon is a right at 200#.

    That's great, and it's super light, but I need it to be able to haul materials as well as motorcycles.

    I guess the combined weight of your scoot and trailer suggests I'll be fine.

    I was going more for gross tonnage information than size there.

    The Ural and my GS rig are both a hair pver 5' wide and I didn't want the trailer sticking out past the rigs on the sides with mine.

    I do have rails I can put in and a deck on mine for trips to the dump and such but it is still only 40" X 48".

    Is it just the perspective of the photo, or did you mount the trailer tongue off-center?

    I need to measure the width of my rig. I'd like for it to be able to take a drive with me in the trailer behind my car if needed. I don't really think I would mind if it's wider than the rig. For my purposes, the rig would be hauling the trailer on no more than 20 mile round trips.

    I offset the trailer tongue so that the trailer tires track in the rigs tire tracks. I can run it in the snow and you only see one set of tracks.

    I tow a 4 wheel trailer around the yard with my 250. Based on my experience with heavy trucks and trailers, brakes will be the determining factor. If you are hauling cement, I would look into a inertial brake controller, and a trailer with light electric brakes. Will dramatically improve your outcome in a panic situation. I think you can get hubs and brake disks for the 4 bolt setups that would roughly match your target size.
