This ride reinforced my need for aftermarket suspension (and possibly a better seat). I have the factory shock on 5 and 1" raising links to try to help the sag, but it isn't enough for me alone, much less 2-up! I have the factory seat with the Waly world seat pad. I'm a cheap KLR rider, so it is hard for me to justify a $300+ seat! :D

But hopefully I can at least get the suspension upgraded soon. Otherwise, it was fine off road. At each obstacle, I debated running first gear and putting thru, versus "when in doubt, gas it" which is what I would have done solo!

I replaced the stock seat with a Sargent World Sport Performance seat. It was pricey but SUCH an improvement over the stock. I was using the stock seat with the Wally-world pad also.

    Cheers!

She doesn't have a license yet! This was a "see if she will be serious about riding with me before I buy her gear" ride, and she passed!!!

Thanks to PeachBabe for loaning the ATGATT gear!! :clap

Oh, I remembered a part of the story I left out... On the return trip up the Natchez Trace, we passed where a side road connects on the right side. As we approach, I see 3 cruiser type bagger bikes at the stop sign and 1 pulls out in front of us. I back out of the throttle and the second one must have started out and seen us or something and dropped the bike while sitting at the stop sign. The third rider runs up and starts trying to right the big bike. I am considering stopping to help when I notice the 1st guy who pulled out in front of us slow and do a u-turn right in front of us, almost causing a second problem... It's bad when it is bikers causing other bikers trouble!! Hope the 2nd bike was okay after the fall! :eek1

Looks like a great. I did the Mississippi Hill Country Ride last fall for my first DS ride. Brings back memory's of the area.

You need to get a camera too so you can get some good shots of her. You can never have to many pictures of the kids.

Me and a couple more riders rode the Port Gibson area back in June, but missed the Shaifer Rd. Will certainly have to go back first chance and ride it.

Great pics and a great looking ride.
The sports cars, probably{possibly} were part of the company that rents cars for the day, they do 6 cars, an hour each. Cant think of the name but Baldy posted his here a year or 2 back. Ultimate Cars or something.

Tremendous Experience! I loved taking my daughter, who was 9,10,11 on various trips back then, I remember a 10 dayer from Reno, through Idaho and to a BMW rally in missoula and back through Oregon etc...Her mother thought we were at Disneyland! She still to this day at 26 recalls those adventures quite fondly, as do I.
