Been a weird and hardy winter so far. Things warmed up though the past 5 days and the earth began to thaw. Most of the snow down here on the edge of the desert shrunk to small patches and the deep freeze the soil has been in has softened up a lot. Still not enough to drain the soil so theres an unusual amount of water with no place to go. Fired up the 525 yesterday (sunday) and rode to nearby BLM land. Ran into my neighbor Steve who was on his way home from a nice loop. Its perfect right now! Follow my roost, theres a bunch of excellent single track. Had to wait under a tree in the sudden rain a few minutes for Ryan who was coming from the northern border of this riding area. Got on Steve's tracks right away. It quit raining for about 14 miles and we rode all kinds of soaking wet to super grippy trails. Started raining again but it was so warm, it didnt bother us. Figured to get as wet as we could stand and high-tail it for the barn. Stopped to clean goggles and maybe the squall will blow over, which it did. Didnt shoot photos of the single track or even the best of the action but we goofed around before splitting up. We dont get this kind of mud very often, 300 days of the year its extremely dusty so for us - a good time! And then we went our separate ways. I'm traveling to the Vancouver Motorcycle Show tomorrow so the vision of being indoors for a few days NOT riding - made getting totally soaked in the desert sound like an appropriate decision. Hosed off the bike, lubed the chain and that's that.
