This is a nice ride.
Cool tag, hope we get a chance to snag it. Will probably visit there even if we don't get it.
Kim is selling the Ninja.Great deal to be had on a local bike!
Couldn't help getting the tag today, already had plans to ride the national forest (one last ride on the 650 before I hand the keys to the Misses). I didn't move the tag far since Zgirl had mentioned wanting to see Strawberry Plains. Here's the old tag I grabbed
Here's the new tags, I say "tags" because you have an option Here's your first option. It's all pavement and very close to the old tag. If you don't already know where it is, i'm sure google will be glad to help
Here's the start for your next option (also not far from the old tag), for the dirtier more adventurous folks. Your journey to this tag will begin here @ N 34.69618, W 89.30406 By turning onto road 661D as you can see below.
(Here's a link to Google maps if you really wanna cheat, it's the green arrow https://maps.google.com/maps?q=N+34...3,-89.876448&sspn=5.025925,10.821533&t=m&z=15 )
To get this tag you will follow 661D to N 34.69198, W 89.29019 and the tag looks like this below.
(google maps link, it's the green arrow, under the "A" balloon https://maps.google.com/maps?q=N+34...618,-89.30406&sspn=0.019159,0.042272&t=m&z=15 )
It is a bit more off road than a normal gravel road but I didn't air down any tires or even turn off the abs, so nothing too terrible. There are a few water crossings that are slick but have a solid bottom. Both tags make greats rides! Enjoy whichever you choose
Thanks! How kind of you to consider us!
Maybe we can snag one of those great tags next weekend if they are still around.
Today we were busy making a 160 mile trip out of a100 mile trip to Reelfoot Lake.
A lot more curves than the normal route. ;-)
You are very welcome! I'd hate to take away a ride someone was looking forward too! I normally would've just avoided it all together, but now that i've promised Kim the 650gs I may be out of a bike for a bit, while the hunt is on for a new one So this weekend in the national forest was my last hurrah with the 650 before controls get moved, suspension readjusted, etc, etc... brings a tear to my eye to pass it on. Sounds like you guys had a great ride today!!! Hope you can get down to strawberry plains and enjoy the ride
Thanks, it was an excellent ride!
What new / used bike are you looking for? Bill is notorious for finding good deals. That's not his job; he just loves bikes.
I've been tempted to go get these last few tags...but can someone recommend a good route to get there instead of 72 or 78.
I'm looking for a used ktm 950 adventure. My price cap is pretty much 6500. :)
Wish I could help ya with the route. But I'm due west of holly springs so not to familiar with the route from Memphis.
He's on it.
Would you also be interested in a spinning wheel that spins straw into gold? ;-)
Just kidding, maybe there is one nearby!
If that's the case did you see the 950 in Las Vegas with 3300 miles and S suspension...I think Tony is willing to front the extra $1k!
One in Dallas...maybe:
Did you see any Bald Eagles? Plenty of them around Reelfoot.
First of all i'm interested in anything that turns anything into gold Let's get that trade started immediately! bike hunting will be a breeeze!!..., and the mortage, bills, taxes, no more job, hmm, hmmmmm, hmmmmmmmm, ........... Oh sorry I kinda trailed off there into my own fantasy LOL!
And thank you Tony, for fixing my budget cap That's about how it would go down I assume Other than for anything over 6500 will require a knee crawling beg to the prettier half for money which i'm not above
I have seen that one. I e-mailed (his only source of contact) the guy Sunday when I discovered it and haven't heard back. Since the Ad is still up I do believe it's time for a followup e-mail Thanks for keeping an eye out though I'd rather see repeats then miss one!!!
I've also been talking with this guy http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/3605788019.html Although he's in Pittsburg. Only for the fact that i'll be doing training up in Cleveland, Oh in a week and a half with nothing to do on the evenings other than make a 2 hr drive and look at a bike
I got lucky back in '05 and bought a low mileage 900 Monster off Ebay from a Dentist in Pittsburg. Got it cheap because he admitted it wouldn't start after sitting for a year. One carb clean later, it's been humming ever since.
Had my best friend from Kent, Ohio go pick it up 3 days later and store it until I went up to get it 2 weeks later.
So, who ya' training up in Cleveland? Or are ya' being trained?
I saw one eagle and several hawks as we were riding up there.
We went over to the Reelfoot Lake State Park across from Boyette's after lunch and saw more eagles, owls, hawks and other critters.
It was lunch time for the eagles. Glad I'm not a chicken..... :eek1
