    Mendocino National Forest (MNF) is having its fourth monthly forest rehab volunteer work party to address the aftermath of the Mill Fire. A completed volunteer agreement form is required to participate, if you haven’t already submitted one. You may leave its top row of boxes blank; please fill out the remainder, sign and return it to MNF by fax: 530-963-3173 or submit it at the event. :thumb

    BRING YOUR LUNCH and PLENTY TO DRINK
    Rain or shine event, BRING APPROPRIATE APPAREL AND SUN PROTECTION
    Vouchers for free camping Saturday night at Davis Flat Campground will be available to participants at the event.

    Per MNF: "...most of the work needing to be accomplished will be dealing with barriers in the Fouts Springs area." Details to follow.

    From MNF this morning:
    "We will be building and installing barriers, completing the installation of the roof on the carport and building fire rings on Davis Flat. If anyone has a 12+ foot A-Frame ladder, you are willing to bring to this event, please do so. We need them for the installation of the carport roof.

    Let’s meet at the Fouts Springs Maintenance Yard [1333 Fouts Springs Road, Stonyford, California 95979] @ 10:00 (follow the signs) and plan on working until 4:00.
    The USFS safety guidelines make it mandatory to wear the following safety items… boots, gloves, eye protection, hard hat, long sleeves & pants. We will supply extra hard hats and gloves for those who are unable to bring them."


    Additional volunteer days are scheduled:
    February 16 - Part One, Class A Chainsaw Certification class, must RSVP by 2/1/13 to Paige Makowski paigemakowski@fs.fed.us or 530-963-1328 (no walk-ins accepted for chainsaw class), more information will be posted later
    March 16 - Part Two, Class A Chainsaw Certification class, must attend Part One and RSVP by 2/1/13 to Paige Makowski paigemakowski@fs.fed.us or 530-963-1328 (no walk-ins accepted for chainsaw class), more information will be posted later
