    Mendocino National Forest (MNF) is holding its monthly forest rehab volunteer work party to address the aftermath of the Mill Fire. A completed volunteer agreement form is required to participate, if you haven’t submitted one previously. To obtain one, please contact Paige at: paigemakowski@fs.fed.us or 530-968-1328.

    BRING YOUR LUNCH and PLENTY TO DRINK
    Rain or shine event, BRING APPROPRIATE APPAREL AND SUN PROTECTION
    Vouchers for free camping Saturday night at Davis Flat Campground will be available to participants at the event.

    Per MNF:
    “Stonyford OHV personnel are seeking volunteers to assist with the rehab/volunteer days AS WELL AS maintaining the safety of the trails by removing fallen trees after storms or anytime of the year.”
    “In order to operate a chainsaw within the National Forest, ALL volunteers must obtain a S-212 certification issued by the USFS…”

    Part One, Chainsaw S-212 Certification class is held separately from the Volunteer Work Party and is a pre-requisite to the mandatory CPR/First Aid class and Part Two Class A Chainsaw S-212 Certification class to obtain chainsaw certification.
    This class isn’t scheduled to occur again. MNF requests, “Please arrive early to settle in” and that if you aren’t interested in completing the CPR/First Aid certification class and Part Two class to obtain chainsaw certification and volunteer regularly, please do not sign up for, or attend, Part One. :gerg Seats are limited to the first 20 people who sign up.

    Required safety gear: 8” leather boots, Gloves, Hard Hat, Face Shield or Protective Glasses, Chaps, Ear Protection
    Requested gear: personal chainsaw
    Per MNF: “We will have SOME spare safety gear and a few spare chainsaws to practice with.
    Please provide yourself with lunch, snacks and beverages to get you through the day.”

    "The main project for Saturday is building and installing barriers. The main focus area will be Little Stony Day Use. With Colusa County’s Annual Fishing Derby coming up in May we would like to have this area spruced up so we can reopen it to the public. (This does not include OHV trails.)

    The 1st of the 3 part chainsaw certification series starts Saturday, here at the compound in Stonyford @ 0800.
