    DaveBro,
Thank for the routes , I'll look into it.
Direct from my friend's house to the camp is 150 miles.
I guess i might just go to the camp direct instead of playing
    around to get up there.
I save the playing around after the Rally.

Are you bringing your Husky? Single track stuff?

Yes, bringing the Husky. There is a whole network of trails (Penny Pines area) not far away that I want to explore. Mix of single and doubletrack. We should head out there together one day.

That's pretty much the route I'm taking in (with the RV). As far as I can tell, once you get to Van Arsdale Reservoir, you can either turn right onto Forest Route 20N01(which turns into County Road M6, but then turns back into 20N01). You then finally come to some paved road, just before a bridge, and you're now on County Rd 301D. Before you know it, you'll come to the store at Soda Creek. They do sell supplies and gas here and when I was up there last weekend with mootsuno (Dean) they said they'd have gas. They do have diesel too (if you care) but it's off-road diesel only (if you care about that too).

The other choice, is to take the north side of the river... When you get to the Reservoir, cross the bridge, then take the right ontp Eel River Rd (aka Co Rd 240). This then changes to Co Rd 301 / Elk Mtn Rd. I think it's paved for a little longer than the other route, but there's not much in it. You end up coming to the Soda Creek Store, turn left and head the last couple of miles to the camping site.

Whichever route you take, it's 8 - 10 miles of gravel road... When we road out last weekend, we took the north road out and it was in pretty good shape. Still, with the truck and towing a Toy Hauler/RV, I doubt I'll be breaking any speed limits :D.

Last chance - if anyone needs some supplies shipped up, I'm leaving Marin around lunchtime Thursday. I have room for a small bike in the truck (already got two CRF150s) and possibly another bike in the hauler, alongside my Husaberg.

Whoops, that's the route I meant to map out. I'm glad you caught that.

I'm not even sure if the road on the south side of the river is open. We've ridden it before, and it it's fun, but not recommended for anyone who's loaded up.

It seems my work schedule might let me have the week off so I'll prob go up in my rv on wed. I'll be at the fuller grove campground just a little further in if I can get a spot. If anyone else gets there early, come find me and go exploring. The Weather is still looking fine:D

Ride Report: All Clear up at the summit yesterday 4/29... a touch of snow (See photo from 1 week ago), other than a KLR going down, no issue riding through it yesterday: should be all melted by today.

Rode up yesterday tracing SFMCjohns proposed route from SF through Knoxville OHV, Cache Creek to Rd-41, Leesville R. to Stonyford, M5, Bartlett Springs rd. to Upper Lake.

Awesome ride! lots of 40mph+ dirt and some WOT. Fairfield to Stonyford: 4 hours. Stonyford to Upper Lake: 5 hours: A couple of low sides, and 2 drowned bikes around slowed us down.

    Hey Seavoyage,

Let's hear more about the water crossing ... sounds dramatic! :ear

If you guys did the water crossing I'm thinking of, it has caused some of my riding buddies a lot of grief in the past ... short, steep climb out of the water to Bartlett Springs Road?

I'm really looking forward to some camping! Here's some pics to help motivate me to get up and out of bed, and on the road early ... fire-towers!

The lookout near Deer Valley/Sky Rock/Windy Ridge ...

Pine Mountain ... you can rent this one, so I only go up to it if no one is there, so I don't disturb folks who have reserved it ...

I think there is some sort of tower to the north west of Lake Pillsbury that you can see from Hull Mountain ... but maybe I'm confused ... Signal Peak?

I want to try to get up to the Anthony Peak fire-tower, up by Mendocino Pass, and there are a couple further north at Eagle Peak and Tomhead Saddle that I've never seen ...

See you all around the campfire,

    If you're a n00b, then I am just slow... :D

Either way, I try to keep up. :ricky

I'm getting excited as this gets closer. Only a couple of days now!

I am headed up on Thursday and am open to riding pretty much anything a 650 can handle on Friday and Saturday. If conditions are good, and we can get a group together, I would like to ride around Snow Mountain Wilderness on one of the two days.

In time. I've ridden a lot and have gotten hurt a lot. I missed this trip last year because of it. That being said lets all ride safe and not faster or harder then needed. Please make sure I am reminded of that too. :D

And if you're slow... well, I'll just try and keep up too.

Looking forward to a [dis]organized ride Friday. Even a couple of hours Thursday a'noon would be fine. Saturday's wide open. I'll have to spend some time with the missus & daughter, but an hours or three excursion would be good.

If all goes according to plan (yeah, right :lol3) - I shall arrive early to mid afternoon Thursday...

    Sounds like a plan, G.

I hear you on that as well. I can usually keep a good pace. I'm not familiar with the territory, so I am glad to follow.

I'm sure we'll be able to get a good group together and have a blast riding around.

I'm hoping that the moisture predicted to sweep through Thursday is minimal so it is not a mud-fest for Friday.
