Hello, what is the latest month "weather wise" to be able to cross at "Los Libertadores"?

Don't want to over pack with winter clothing.

    Opinions, etc...

    Thanks, Alex

HI! difficult question because the weather in Los Andes change in minutes.
I think the best season to cross is from September to May, but remenber rain in Mendoza or Santiago mean snow (and traffic) at the border

We went up there in mid-October. It was my girlfriend's first day as a motorcycle passenger, ever.

It was 82F in Santiago. We were roasting in traffic.

It was snowing and wet sleet on top of Los Libertadores. Miserable conditions.

Also, they don't play well with the Centro American method of sliding all the way to the front of a queue of cars. The militar chicks guiding traffic were not amused, and sent us to the back of the line to freeze for an hour.

Just have insulation and raingear ready. It is only 10,500 feet. If you're dry, it's easy. Watch for high winds, because I lost my little yellow Chile-Argentina tourist pass in a wind gust.
