Hey Donnie, been following and enjoying your RR. Glad you made it home. I recently finished a similar trip, but from Toronto to Panama and back. (www.tothegapandback.com) I'd like to think I had as enjoyable a trip as you! Mex/C.A. are so "alive" compared to U.S./Canada don't you think?? The people are so engaging, hospitable, and open. Hope you get back on the road soon.

I forgot the most important thing!!! :eek1 I will have to spray some more silver paint on it because some got knocked or worn off! :rofl

Yes, if you show a bit of interest, they are very quick to open up and invite you in, Of course, here in the south, in the more rural areas, we still have some of that. :deal I will be back south in a couple of months. :D

No one has ask yet, but I know they will, so I will go ahead and answer the question. :evil Excluding the money I lost with my wallet, I spent about $4,200 - $4,500 or about $60/$65 per day. Of course that included about 10 days in Emilianp's apartment or with some of his relatives. It could have probably been done on less, but I was not really trying to minimize my cost.

60 - 65 per day. That was to be my question. I had the impression that you were spending a lot less with some of the bargain motels you found.
But it certainly appears to have been worth the money.

Gas was way more expensive south of Mexico than here in the USA. $6/$7 per gallon in Honduras and Nicaragua. It could have easily been 10 to 15 less per day.

I started getting a cold the last day of the trip as I rode from Dallas, TX home and have felt like crap ever since I have been here! :deal

Yes, I am ready to leave again, but it will be toward the end of June. June 15 will be the one year anniversary of Sheryl's death, with June 16 being her birthday. :cry:cry:cry I feel a very strong need to be home during this time! :cry:cry:cry

I think that I will probably be headed back down to Mexico for a bit. I will also return to Baja , MX with my cousin in November and some time during the late November to March time period, I will go to Belize, Costa Rica and Panama. I will probably get some other trips worked in between these, but have no firm plans at this time. I want to get to Newfoundland and Labrador when possible.

It's a no brainer for me. I'll take the DR650. Should I get the Safari tank?

I think my own return to Baja will be in November, Donnie, so maybe we will cross paths at that time.
I want to look at some of the Baja 1000 and then take the boat across to Mazatlan or Topolobampo.

Donnie; It's 12:30 AM, and just finished your report. What an adventure! It took me a couple of days to finish it. I have forwarded your report to a couple of buddies and used it to entice one of them to venture out, to Baja.. I really enjoyed the photos and your narrative and specially the connection you made with the great people living their lives. You really exposed the true majesty of Old Mejico! Well done! and thank you for your the report. I shall follow in your footsteps. :D

Finally read through the last 7 pages of updates and pics and I can say that it looks amazing. You take adventure riding to another level by the way you travel and the many people you meet. Diving into a dirrent culture is something that maybe very few of us would even dare to do but you seem to take with stride. Nice travels my friend and keep on riding.
