Schumi- per ESPN Radio- fell skiing, struck helmeted head against a rock. Now in critical condition. :cry

Hyper competitive? Yes- Amazing to watch at the top of his game? Yes.

Earlier, I had read what Jurgen posted. Looks like his condition worsened after that was written.

I guess he must have had a lot of bleeding in the brain and they poked a hole in his skull to relieve the pressure. I hope he pulls through and retains full mental function.

As posted in the other thread...

Hopes and prayers for his recovery. He was a great driver that provided a great deal of entertainment to me over the years. I remember when he was a young upstart in that Benneton Ford battling Senna in his final season. In a way, I think that Schumacher's rise helped us get over the the loss of Senna.

I'm still not over Arytons death:cry

    Prayers for Schumie

I also read that he was wearing a helmet & if he wasn't, he'd be dead.

I hope he's in a top notch hospital, believe me that makes all the difference.

Some improvement today, they are hopeful, but still extremely cautious with saying he is out of the woods.

They have him stablized, but he is still critical. Tomorrow is his birthday.

At this point they have induced a coma and are keeping him in it until the lesion's on his brain calm down. They have done two surgeries, he responded well to the second operation they reported. At this point there have been no further reliable reports other than he is stable but still critical. He was skiing out of bounds. That is the thrill and the danger of it. Cetainly MS is no stranger to taking risks greater than most mortals, this time it just bit him hard. The French investigating signage is laughable, as usual for them, on a mountain slope. Should there be marker buoys for every obstacle? Preposterous notion that there should have been signage. You go off piste, you know the dangers. It has become exceptionally popular the last several years. It is rough on equipment and on occasion participants. But it is a lot of fun.

Last I read they were expecting to have a more informed report Wednesday.

Fake n00b? We have three Schumacher threads, and two of them have attracted jerks with no sense of decency.
