    I liked the change.

However, I may change the gearing a bit to make the DRZ more 'street worthy'.

I currently have it at 14/47 (stock is 15/44) but I may go to 15/47. It will be a very minor change per gearing calculator but may cut down the vibs a bit at 75-80 MPH.

If you’re adding more air, means obviously need more fuel.

Without cutting up a stock airbox, I’d rather just jet the carb to the proper jetting to achieve proper mixture and carbureation with the airbox in tact. Likely using less fuel in the process.

Not trying to argue, just saying what I would do. Given the fact I have the means and ability.

Im not either, I'm trying to learn. I thought maybe because you loose the snorkel that keeps more dirt/water out. I've pulled my snorkel, so my limited miles have been have with half without. I didn't notice a difference. Now many will say seafoam or other snake oils don't work. But the bike when I bought it backfired, air box and exhaust. Seafoam in some gas and no more back firing. PO stated always was hard start cold and cold blooded. Seems about the same as my TW which as far as I know is stock, plan to check it someday. Since I've been riding in 40's° the DRZ has been good. A little warmup and no blubbering. I did just get the JD kit and a rebuild kit. For those with DRZ's here in Michigan, what jets setting do you like?
Gas mileage I haven't checked. I didn't want to work on it with gas in the tank. Then I didn't think we'd have much riding left, so I just add some and go. I do NOT, like a petcock without an off. I've had to many carbs that dump gas. So a different petcock and some handguards, and I should be done spending money on the DRZ...Maybe a bigger skid, new plastic, graphics different headlight. Oh I'd like to get a few extra 520 links to try different size rear sprockets.

whelp, new bike aint happening...... bike budget is getting swapped to "pay off tools budget"

snap on dealer wants to swap me over to snap on credit with my balance, which isn't HUGE (it has been in the past) but its gunna take all my "bike money" to pay the snap on dealer so i don't go onto credit at 22%(crooks)

so, as of now, no bike to scheme on, gotta be responsible here...... wishing id have just kept my fucking dr650 i sold earlier this year, as it looks like replacing it is going to be hard.

    anyone hiring a part timer?

Almost all school districts, hospitals, big time Universities, Water Treatment Facilities, etc all looking for Service/Maintenance Managers. With your skills it would be no problem to get a very decent position.

    He won't do it.

Too much pride in workmanship, no 'widget' type job for Colby. Tough position Cman is in. Incredible amazing skills! He should be running that biz, but what a dilemma, his skills need to be on those vintage classics, there just aren't many 'Colby's' out there.

Don't go in the bowling biz; weekends, nights, holidays...:flip

After Earthquakes, fires, mudslides, draughts, hurricanes, volcanoes and wraths of global warming, Michigan will be the place to be in The USA.

BTW, I did our 1st snow shoveling today. Snow removal guy doesn't come unless the snow accumulation is greater than 2". It was good exercise for me.

all that sounds pretty good to me. I'm in a tough spot, wife works for the county here and we have it pretty dicked otherwise.

i should be running that shop, but it'll never happen. been a little over 6 years here, not sure what lies in store for the future. i have a hard time working on "fleet" or daily rigs. I've spent most my working career working on high end cars, and classics. so its kind of an art thing. id be way bored on 3/4 ton truck brake jobs, though thats where the $$ is.

bowling biz seems fun. mostly a "want to be there" kind of thing.

VI - watch that smooth-talking Imu character, after SoCal, you may not be ready for Michigan.

Snow season is about to start, and they are predicting 1/2 the usual ice on the Great Lakes this winter. That means those of us near the Great Lakes will get lots of lake-effect snow.

I don’t mind the occasional dump of snow, but lake-effect snow is frequently a little bit, inch or 3, almost daily, which gets old fast.

    My house this week:

One thing about Winter though is that we sure appreciate Spring!

And we don’t have wild fires. I hope that shit is far away from you and yours.

Jon, I knock Michigan a lot but its mostly in jest.
I cannot imagine moving back to SoCal.
But we certainly think of moving to Southern Georgia or Northern Florida.
Retirement is about 5 or so years away. Can't wait.

We have been debating out next car purchase a lot---we settled between a SUV (Cadillac Escalade--preowned) vs. a 'newer' Ford Transit.
Tomorrow, we check this one out: Wish us luck as it looks very good in the pictures.

Northern GA and Northern AL worth a look too, Imu. Good roads, unlike the southern part of those states. Ask Klaviator about Huntsville area. I’d love to winter on the FL panhandle, but not summer.

Coastal GA is pretty nice too though, if you can afford ocean-front.

Ever since I started reading RRR threads, I have wanted to move to Southern UT or Northern AZ.

Summer heat & humidity in the South Eastern US is icky (my family lives in NC, I lived in Atlanta as a youngster, then VA until 30-something). It seems to get worse every year.

We have seen several cars--they look great in pics but end being less than excellent interior.
Not in any rush so we will find the right car.

No fires near this go around. Few months ago, they were within 3 miles, but we were in no danger.

Thursday I drove to get parts and one of the local “wilderness” areas was fine when I drove one way, and fully ablaze on the return leg. In the span of about 20 minutes. It’s DRY DRY DRY right now.

Tonight I went to a speedway race and they watered the track heavily and within 3 heats (1 minutes each pretty much) and 12 total race laps, it was back to dust bowl.

Seasons, I have seasons, er seasonings, yeah, seasonings, I cook with those.

If I could move anywhere in terms of climate, roads, proximity to real city, etc etc I would move to the Prescott valley of Arizona. Some absolutely beautiful roads, good dirt riding, some heat, some snow. I’ve ridden thru a few times, and driven a few times, and it’s awesome.

Our first accumulating snow fall was yesterday.
As Jon says we may have quite a bit of lake effect snow fall this Winter.

Good luck on the car search Imu, fun & frustrating at the same time!

Like jon said though, if you do the black Esc, we'll get ya some 'official' seal placards for those side doors. After all, you are the mayor of Moab! You'll have to hang the MI & UT flags off the front end.:thumb
