I find that it's almost impossible to waste time on a motorcycle. Even if your falling behind just whack the throttle & that sense of "wasting time" goes away quick. :clap

No problem Dan, may get out some today on Ginger, but I've gotta catch up on my moto GP season first.

Sounds like Ginger was pissed at you for taking Blue out instead of her the other day...

I posted this in a couple of places but I figure it needs to be posted here also:
Yesterday....I hop on Ginger to take a little ride between football games headed down to Keg Springs Winery for a bottle or three for dinner. After I turn onto Hatcher Lane (a little side street that leads where I was heading) I noticed a car followed by a patrol car coming up behind me. I don't think much of it since I am within the speed limit and just keep cruising. I noticed the car behind me getting a little close so I give the bike a "shake" by moving from the inside half of the lane to the outside and back a few times to make sure they still remember I am in front of them...no worries, I do it all the time. Also, I want to add that to my knowledge there is nothing in the Tennessee Code that says I cannot use my entire width of the lane when I ride as long as I don't cross into another or an oncoming lane in the process. I was in complete control of my vehicle at this time.

So I continue on, turning at my intersection (blinkers & no stop since it is a yield sign)....the car behind me goes left and the patrolman goes right behind me.....no worries, I haven't done anything wrong. Take my next turn (a left) and I notice that the patrolman follows again. Just as I am starting to think he may be up to something....bam...blue lights. As I pull over and start to strip off my gloves my mind is racing trying to figure out what the heck I did wrong. The office come up and we start with the pleasantries.....he asked if I was having a problem keeping my bike straight. I say no sir, none at all. Well, come to find out that the car behind me gestured to the office about my lane shifting so he stopped me to suggest that I don't do it around other traffic. He didn't ticket me, didn't write a warning either (assumably because I didn't do anything illegal) and sent me on my merry way with an "I understand, I ride bikes too".

I tell this story to say this: I have heard most of my life that "Perception is more important than Reality"......I was just reminded yesterday how this is so true. While (to my knowledge) I didn't do anything that is illegal in the laws, I was perceived as doing something wrong.

So I guess the question here is What do Others PERCEIVE when they see you ride??? I'm going to think about this a little more myself...

I think that some folks just don't like bikes or people on bikes. Glad you rode away without any " Awards".

    Good points Clocklaw.

To help make a good perception, I use at least the 2 second rule when following but I also make an extended jester if the driver in front is signaling to turn. I will always slow down more and give them more space.

Too often I see bikers too close to cars and sometimes
passing them while they're turning. Makes for a bad impression/perception of other riders and also dangerous if the driver changes his/her mind at the last second.
