Imagine squeezing over 250kms of dirt road/track action out of a normal surfaced road, round trip of approx 160kms ............. :ricky:ricky:ricky ........... :wings

Went for a ride today from Adelaide in South Australia to a German style touristy town in the nearby hills, Handorf and then south to a lakeside country town of Milang & back to town. **this ride report doesn't have much info about the towns ............. it's about the riding enjoyment :webers

Feeling elated with finding a convenient meeting point for the first two guys indicating they wanted to join me for some 'dirty' Advrider action today ............... one lives at Palmer & another lives at Aldinga Beach (100kms apart :huh), it became a 50/50 bet, klm that is (after consulting Google maps of course) that Ottos' Bakery at Hahndorf was THE PLACE. :deal

I relaxed in the knowledge that they would be able to arrive at the bakery at their leisure & enjoy an nice coffee & slice of cake :*sip* while waiting for everyone to join them ................. NOT! :huh It didn't open until 9am, our scheduled departure time.

So we took pity on an obviously dissappointed NotHome & delayed our start so he could refuel his body :dg ................... however in protest he refused to eat.

So while he was away ......... 'waiting' for the servo to open as well :lol3 we enjoyed a very nice coffee. What's with Hahndorf? :tb

Anyway an easy riding day down south eventually got underway with 'twisted 1' 's little XR400 snappin' at my heels most of the day. :D

It was a pleasure to have another "beast" along, even if it was shod with street tyres

................. next we were enjoying some more very nice out-of-the-way tracks

Our first rest was for a 'modesty stop' under the freeway (and no Sundowner to be seen :D)

.............. a few farm tracks continued our very enjoyable riding experience

except I thought this one was actually rather straight, unlike the tyre marks :lol3

With a tasty country cooked lunch on the cards, 'twisted 1' hightailed the final 'short cut' to Milang

While the "gnarly adventure riders" rehydrated over some amber fluid, MikeF part-took of his chardonnay :jkam which had us wondering whether he should have in fact replaced his KLR with a BMW, especially after his caffe latte at Hahndorf:jack

Fuel at Milang was non existant today with both outlets closed, so we were forced to detour to Strathalbyn from where 'twisted 1' headed back to his beautiful little Palmer "escape to the country" cottage (next to the pub apparently :evil).

The rest of us experienced more smooth fast flowing enjoyment (and that didn't include the relief stops either :D)

NotHome getting right into it by now, was taking a rather strange line to miss my beautiful TDM :eek1:eek1:eek1

MikeF couldn't resist a sly glance to his left at the beautiful lines of the mighty TDM as he rode past :raabia

With the blink of an eye, we were into a "rain forest" luckily today without the rain :bow

From Meadows we said our farewells after a truely enjoyable, fun day riding an amazing variety of track surfaces to please yet challenge, thanks guys.

    cya again soon

    Cheers

Oh yeah, I remember living in SA. Nothing was ever open. Ever. Not uncommon at all to have to skip a meal on the road.
Godzone motorcycle country though, on and off road, the Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula. Looks like a great ride you all had.

:becca Why'd I miss this one?! :cry Some fantastic looking tracks there, MB.
The new bike looks great, Mike. I bet it rides better than the old KLR. Good stuff, all.

    Kym,

Looks like yet another one of your exceptional quality routes but I have to ask how do you manage to arrange a ride or Avoca night every time I have other commitments?:huh

Not that it mattered for yesterday all 3 bikes are in bits anyway.:cry

    Hope your keeping well.
