I recently purchased a xt225, and took the dirt bike tech dirtbike class. I am in Minneapolis and am looking to go out riding with some folks.

I am mid thirties with 18,000 street miles under my belt, and I want to go off road.

If you or a group are going out on a weekend and want another to tag along; hit me up.

So you have zero offroad experience? I ride almost every weekend but only single track and real offroad... not dualsport stuff.

If you are new to dirt and want to get some gravel time I know some good routes north and south of St. Paul. I haven't done a lot of single track and do more of the dual sport stuff.

I have 11 hours of experience off road. this would be low speed tight trails.

My situation is almost identical to _lee:

    Lots of street miles (100k)
Recently got a dual sport (TW200) and now looking for more off-road.

I live in the far west metro. 0 public trails, some minimum maintenance roads, TONs of back roads / gravel roads to blast on for experience.

    Thanks for the Theilman information!

Don't forget about the North Shore Shindig.

I have an XT225 and an r100GS. I do not have the skills/confidence to do much more than easy gravel with the r100GS though. I live down by Henderson / Le Sueur

I am new in the area and am also looking for ride groups, anything from single track to DS and adventure rides. I have a KTM 500 and a 690. I am riding out west for the next few weeks though.

I will be at Theilman May 21-22 if anyone else is going.
I am wanting to try the Martineau trail system if anyone is interested in heading in that direction.
Newb to offroad so not looking for anything too extreme to start with.

Any other noobs going to Theilman?
Spooned on a new front tire last night took about an hour start to finish not fast but maybe a little quicker than running back and forth to have a shop do it and it was my first time.
Could probably use a new more dirt oriented rear tire as well but will have to ride what I have for the time being.

I'll be down at Theilman. I'm not a noob but I'm very happy to help anyone new to the fold. That's how I got started in the sport.
A word to the wise..........It helps to have your AMA and D23 dues paid before the event. It makes registration go much faster. Also be sure to have some cash with you for camping fees.
If you have plans for Martineau, I can help you out there too. That's where I do most of my riding.

Are the AMA and D23 actually required?

I wouldn't mind if you provided some direction at Theilman, At present I am planning to head down fri afternoon so as to see if my bike will even pass soundcheck.

I wondered about that also. When I was with the PBFR, the AMA changed the trailride rules so that participants did not have to join the AMA or D23. If you race, you have to join.

And you do have to pass sound. Usually the sound check people have steel wool, clamps and screens to make a bike quieter. Most DS bikes with stock exhausts pass. The problems are almost always MX pipes.
