In for the Shindig.
Sounds good MD! Whatcha riding?
Black KLR, but it's the day-glo yellow 'Stitch and yellow helmet that people notice. The banana is back for 2013!
Nice! Just put two and two together!
Throw me on the in list.
I have a few single track\unmaintained road routes to add to the shindig list (if they haven’t been added),. There's a nicely unimproved road\trail that runs from the Rossini Trail to the Drummond Line. From there I've found a way to Highland Lake on a road that narrows down to single track with a few branches to push out of the way. We'll have to see how these line up with the riding people want to do. It's also a little out of the way from Shinding HQ. Then again, we are out there to ride.
Cool, send them to me in a GPX file or pass them to Cannonshot for inclusion on the master map.
This year I'm planning on spending a whole week up on the Northshore the week of the Shindig with my family. I'm looking for a nice family place to stay. We are planning on camping at Wildhurst during the Shindig but want to stay someplace else the other days. It must have plumbing (Mrs. Toadl) and a place to swim (little Toadls). Being close to Finland would be a bonus so I could sneek away and help with any scouting.
Lutsen Resort has a pool, and various lodging options. Eagle Ridge at the Lutsen Ski Hill is open in summer and has a pool. Caribou Highlands, also at the Ski Hill, has a pool. Aspen Lodge in Grand Marais has a pool. Those are the ones I know. There is also the Municipal Pool open to the public in Grand Marais, located in the Grand Marais Campground.
In Two Harbors, the motel adjacent to the Holiday gas on the Duluth side of town has a pool, I believe. Might be called the Americinn.
Don't forget Americinn in Silver Bay. Nice pool and close by.
And a waterslide. I was looking at Lax Lake Resort. Is the water going to be too cold for my skinny little kids in July?
Hard to think about right now. -22 and blowing as I write this.
Got 'er Done !! Time to call the campground. And research GPS'
jwalters I'm an IN. Saweeet !!
Thats the spirit! You'll fit right in!
I called Wildhurst today to secure a campsite before they sold out I could have sworn I heard Leroyall the way from Minneapolis
Glad you did that! I hope others are remembering to call him too for your camp sites. I want him to get an idea early on how many people will be there. It's to our benefit to give him a few months lead time. Thanks HBL and others!
Will this GPS work with the Garmin as far as loading tracks and stuff like that. A guy in Burnsville has them refurbished for $50
Triton 200 Magellan Handheld GPS
It will likely take a GPX file but I haven't looked at the specs. Do yourself a favor and buy a Garmin instead. This becomes more relevant when people develop custom maps and overlays that will work in a Garmin but not in other units.
