    An Update:

I got the bike out of the woods one week later. "Mntflow" took me out there on his DS to pick up the bike. He made the trip look easy.
With his help, I got it out of the woods in one piece, and rode it home.

He, unfortunately, got a hole in his engine and broken chain from the trip.

A few days later I took it out to ride to South Carolina.
I made it about 35 miles before the engine crapped out.
I'm renting a car tomorrow to drive it. :(

    My luck sucks.

Sorry to hear about the bike.

How's Melissa doing, and can we see a picture of her?
She sounds like an awesome gal! Does she have a sister?

Your report made a hellish ride into a comedy-thriller, well done mate.
Glad you both made it out OK .... regards to Melissa and the police.

    Cheers from Aus.

And with all the bad luck, whatever became of Melissa? Did all of this adventure chase her off or is there potential for more?

Way to tell about the adventure. :clap :clap :clap

Hope you have many more and come back here to write about them. Of course, you should remember that most of us are dirty old men, and pictures of women should ALWAYS be included.

I haven't seen Melissa since then. I spoke to her once or twice on the phone, but I believe she's spending the rest of the summer in Massachusetts, so it'll be a while before we see each other again...if ever.

Great report. Now go buy a camera and take pics next time!

btw I used to ride MTB's all over reddish knob. Unless its changed the only motor-vehicle-legal road to the top is the main road. The other route is for hikers/mtbs/horses. It gets more and more technical as you go up. The last quarter mile or so near the top is all rocks and frankly would be impossible to ride on a ninja and extremely difficult at best on a full blown dirt bike. I was running expert class DH races and had difficulty transversing it on the MTB! This was all late 90's though and things may have changed, though your pics look sorta familer....

have fun and keep up the adventures and storytelling:clap

You realize he shared that story in 2008. His children are starting school this year.

And what is it about a GPS screen that convinces people that there are roads where there actually aren't?
