Video from my ride with Ron today.
play it in high-def 1440
Great day. Cloudless blue sky. Great ride except the ice on the bridge thing and sliding down the highway destroying a set of riding gear. Sorry, no pics.
Did you go completely down due to ice on a bridge Ron?
you ok ?

Holy cow! Are you hurt? Which bridge?
The bridge on US 12 just before you get to the hot springs. In the shade, short bridge, but on the turn. My GPS data is interesting. From 55 down to 0 in 5 seconds. The jacket and pants (and knee guards) sacrificed themselves. Got a bum ankle, a bit of burn rash on my right forearm, but really nothing much. The bike did even better. Fired right up and we went for lunch at the hot springs. Ended up pretty much all the way across the opposite lane near the edge. Had to tape up my new down liner on a couple of places while waiting for my fish & chips. It was bleeding down like a wounded duck!
must have increased your heart rate from 70 to 270 in 5 seconds.
Another adventure for the book, glad to hear your ok.
Dang, I'm glad you didn't get hurt any worse than you did. Heal up quickly.
I think some luck was involved, but I certainly can't stress enough how well good riding gear protects. Really shredded the right knee area of the pants but the reinforcement here held up. The knee guards totally protected a major impact contact area underneath, but cosmetically unaffected due to the pants doing their job. Pretty much the same with the jacket. Right sleeve pretty shredded, but the shoulder and elbow guards worked. Helmet never touched the ground.
The only real lapse was in my brain, not paying attention and reading the terrain.
I give Ron good marks for form and a speedy recovery. The slide was at least 100 ft. He had stopped sliding and was on the ground when i came over the bridge. My rear broke loose but didn't go down. The frost extended on both sides of the bridge. He will either be covered in duct tape or have new riding gear next time we see him cause he tore the shit out of his gear. Oh yea, 31degrees x 80 mph = f%&king cold.
Ellyn is willing to be nurse Rachet for both of us if you want to come here and convalescence with me. SCARY!
Last thing Ellyn needs is two gimps! Got three dogs and the cat for sympathy comfort. Judy will be back home later today. Made homemade cookie dough ice cream Friday. So all is well.
glad you're all right. Make sure to get another bright green jacket so we recognize you
Yikes! Glad you're mostly okay. And that was a good call, making ice cream. Probably second only to wearing good gear.
Sorry to hear you went down, heal up quickly!!
Thanks for the thoughts. Ankles getting better every day. Even a trip to the grocery store today.
