Yes, we're there Wed-Fri.
That might be good.
Or possibly Bum Steer.
I am new to the area and finaly getting everything moved in and settled now that cold weather is here. Are there any decent trails that I could ride after work near stevensville? I have ridden up bass creek, 3 mile, 8 mile a ways, ambrose creek around to burnt fork via sawmill gulch/pass. I just don't want anything too gnarly if I am by myself. FS maps don't show a lot of open motorized trails around.
I am riding a xr650l, i have ridden some fairly tight trails in Washington at walker valley with this bike, but i am no mx racer for sure.
I was out of town and I missed this... Is anything hapenning soon?
WANSFEL is a good man to ride the river with, and he has lots of local info in your area. He'll chime in here for ya....
All the best,
You've mentioned most of the road based routes near Stevensville. If you go a bit further there are more routes. A bunch up US12 past Lolo, Graves ck, Fish ck, Wagon Mtn Rd, Elk Meadow. Once you go over Lolo Pass, you can go hundreds of miles until you see civilization again. Up 8 Mile take the Sluice ck road and you can connect to Missoula via Miller ck and I90 via Swartz ck.
I ran up Burnt Fork and over Sawmill to Ambrose today - 45 mile loop from the front door.
Not much single track opened real close.
OK, so what's the consensus? I'm pretty open for any day (evening), but realize youse working stiffs might be better off on Sunday night? Black. Anvil is good, but Bum Steer in Florence (think Longrider BBQ) is a good place as well. I've got 5,000 miles of dirt to get outa my system and start prepping for next year.
thanks for the tips. I did the ambrose to burnt fork last night after work you should have seen my tracks. I also did a hundred miles or so out of superior scouting for elk this summer. I think it was fly hill road, and part of the divide trail.
When we first came we stayed at Wye for a month before picking a spot to live, I did the mill creek to arlee ride which was nice.
If you want to ride locally some evening or on a Saturday let me know. I am limited to about 140 miles between gas stops.
How about Saturday to Twin Lakes south then west of Hamilton. 50 miles one way from Stevi. Nice ride to some high country before it gets snowed out. Anyone one else? Sasho?
Yeah, weather permitting.
I am fine with any, incl Wednesday too--I'd just have to dash to Stevie after work, but no biggie. Would love to see y'all
Sounds good. Just let me know where and when to meet.
I'm down with any day that works for everyone else, being retired has its benefits!
I'm with ya on the retired gig! Me too!
Chris, ya slinging BBQ on Sunday evening? If so, lets say Sunday - Bum Steer in Florence - 5:00 PM.
Saturday ride, Stevi main street Cenex - 9:30 AM
Awesome!! I am in for both. The Cenex across the street from the Blacksmith brewery?

I'm in, got room for 1 more?
I can't make the Saturday ride, got free tickets to the Griz game for me and Write2ride, but I'll be there Sunday night for sure!
Nick, Have you ridden OHV trail 313 between Sawmill Saddle and Ambrose Saddle, it's about five miles of ATV trail...no problem for my XR600R and I have virtually no trail experience.
We are closed Sunday. A guy's gotta have time to beat his children!
Friday (today) is Blacksmith's anniversary party. We will be there with pulled pork, free for all plus it's a potluck. Come on out?
