Sweet, another nice 690 in the area
Thank you Hazmat and apologies for not replying sooner - between the busy season at the hotel, a bout of stomach flu and getting ready for a trip to Europ next week it has been a rotton few weeks really. Hope to get together when I return to the States in Feb.
Thank you. I had to jump on it to beat Mark to the punch, Sorry Bigdog...I'm sure you'll find one before long.
You bought the 690 from the guy in Nashville(I think it was Nashville) about 3.5 seconds after it went up for sale, none of us had a chance
I know I am early but what is the word of SBR this year?

First weekend in May - this year it's the 4th - 5th.
I''ll start a new thread in a few weeks.
I didn't get to go last year but also didn't hear too much about it except being too dusty which is a bummer.
Let's hope for some rain this year.
This is what a kitchen should look like-----never thought I was going to get rid of all those piles of X-mas goo--gaws off there.
Plus all the pies, cakes, cookies---------finally back to normal.
What a sweet wife you must have, cooking, cleaning and painting. Guess you can watch the paint dry during the football game.
+1, but not too much. Ha
That is such an awesome "logo" Mark.....might have to get me one of them shirts one day
, no problems , feel better soon
Are you going to go for a dip this year? I think it is your turn.
I could not resist, the sunshine lured me out late this afternoon for a quick 75 mile dual sport on the nine-fiddy. Calloway Creek Road had some spots that were still icy (but not near as bad as the trails @ Castlewood were yesterday on the mountain bike), and Femme Osage Ridge road was closed, it looks like another new bride is going in (one less creek crossing). Didn't see another bike on the road, only a couple white tail deer and a few hawks. I was the only bike at Terry and Kathy's, so I parked right next to the WELCOME BIKERS! sign, but still no company. So I had two beers instead of one, in you all's honor. Snowmobiling in five weeks, then spring will be here.
We need to get out and ride
Mark, which bike is that new tank for? The new Husky?
Have you been down to Mexico already? With which bike?
We leave for Baja in a few days----3 of us are busy spooning on tires, replacing chains and sprockets etc.
As soon as we get that work done we are off----no time frame as all 3 of us are unemployed
One local friend has a passport on the way-should have it soon---me and Dingweeds already have one.
Going to Baja you don't have to get a vehicle permit or even display a license plate----pretty weird huh ???
In Mainland Mexico you must have the vehicle permit---and turn it in when you leave.
Just a visa if you are going very far South--we will go all the way to the tip pretty much.
My routing is about 2,700 miles long----but I'm sure it will change as we ride.
I'm taking my KTM 450EXC-----and that tank holds 6.6 gallons---I get about 53 mpg with the KTM and that gives me a good 300 mile range. The last time I went to Baja on my Husky I had a 180 mile range and ran out of gas 4 times. I think my buddy GasPipe got tired of loaning me gas.
We also had to skip 2 places we wanted to go cause I didn't have the range.
If I had any sense at all I'd take my WR250R------I just checked ------and I don't have any :
I've had that tank for a year or more---never used it----so it's time to get it out.
I've got 3 tanks for the KTM
A stock 2 gallon-------can't go anywhere.
A 3.4 Clark-----good for short local stuff.
And the 6.6----the long haul tank.
Mark, have a great trip! lookin' forward to the ride report.
Thank you Mr. Bill-------------I'll probably post my Spot Walla page in a bit---so if anybody wants to see my progress.
I went out Saturday and looped around back highways and gravel county roads around Jeff for for a bit. Also no other bikes and strange looks from people. you have the right idea, "go ride".
I'll check it out. Looking forward to the RR already!
