What do you think Rustynut, want to do the Shawnee instead of Calhoun Co.? I'd be game, back is feeling better. I could ride the LaRue Pine Hills area every day if I lived close. I need to try out my new tires to see if I can keep up with you in the gravel anyway.

And, of course, 9:00 would be a better start time, it's supposed to be great weather.

Coming from north STL, so where to meet? Usually when we do a ride like this we meet up near columbia IL. Where are you guys coming from? Further south? I can meet further south, just will take some time to get there.

Just joined today but been watching for awhile. If you guys are coming down to the Shawnee Forest maybe I can ride with you. I can't keep up with the fast bikes as mine is 200 cc but know all the gravel roads and some easy and hard roads to go on.

9 am tomorrow at the red roof gas station off 3 in columbia, Red Roof Liquor and Lottery. Sounds like a plan. Loading GPS now with the old tracks, but if we can get Ozark Dave to meet up, maybe he can show us around.

Man, OzarkDave, you sure don't have far to go to get to the Shawnee since you live right in the middle of it! I'll bet you do know all the roads around there, how cool. I don't know what route we want to take, some of us are coming from the Belleville/Collinsville area. I know that one of our guys has some of Big Dog's tracks saved in his GPS but I don't know if we are going to make it all the way over to your side of the forest,

(especially with the late start...) :evil

306 miles when I hit home, and tank on low fuel light, 11 miles, so I can put on the my supertanker tank. Thanks for leading Darren and John. Will post a pic soon. Time for some yard work before the rain comes.

Trying to figure out how to post pics, (again), so nothing yet from today's ride. The ride was a lot of fun, the gravel was fantastic and the new tires worked great. The wind did suck a lot though. You could see the angle the bikes riding in front, big lean into the wind.

I am dissapointed that nobody had stopped for the D/S rider that was broke down on the bluff road. Pirates on parade but nobody stopped. When I went back he said his friend was on the way with a truck and thanked me. I would stop for a pirate, we all ride bikes.

He was on the phone, and thought it was a bmw, so was ok? AMA is awesome for these occurences. Can not depend on others as many are not like you Darren. Glad he was fine/had a ride coming.

Between the two of these: A $99.00 Etrex 20 or the $199.00 Garmin Oregon?

Anyone want to ride on Sunday? Weather's supposed to be nice. Did the West Shawnee a couple of weeks ago. Would love to do a Calhoun Co. run but everything's flooded. I could go for a Bixby run though...

Recently bought a KLR 650. Used to race MX, Hare Scrambles, and Enduros "back in the day" but now just looking for a more relaxing pace.

I am heading to Grand Junction CO week after next and plan on a couple of rides there, but I am looking for local rides.

Other than the lousy off road area in Fulton, and Finger Lakes, are there any decent dual sport rides in Mid- Mo?

I've worn out the gravel roads that are north and west of Columbia up towards Glasgow.

Anything good near Rolla or Lake of the Ozarks?

Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks

    Welcome to the asylum :clap
Dual sport rides IDK, but SBR is coming up, http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=858276 nothing off road but fun ride, fun people. Link ran this out of his place http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=868646 I think it will become a annual event. And yes there is great stuff around Rolla and east. L of O sorry can't help, but I bet there is some. All of Mid-MO. is decent dual sport IMHO. The 24th annual "Show Me 200" is in June, but you better be good to ride this on a KLR, although it's been done. South of you http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=840853 and this may interest you http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=845449
You came to the right place troll around here and you'll find some ridin'.

BTW here's a shameless plug for my own fall ride the Pucky Huddle Breakfast Run the first official one will be September 28th & 29th. 200 plus miles per day. From Ste Genevieve to Viburnum and back. The final pre-ride is next week, then I'll post info here when the tracks are complete.
