No on the GS, but you must use a BMW of some sort (except the X Challenge) for the qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday. Sunday BMW furnishes a brand new GS 1200 for everyone. (Actually Gateway BMW furnished it last time)

What kind of bike you got?
Hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm........ If there is interest we could put on a little local non-GS Challenge the following week. Hell, the hard part is building the test course, supplying the 7 meals and shirts and jerseys. Since the course is there and we wouldn't furnish meals, a half a dozen of us could do it. Compared to the 50 workers needed for the BMW event. Anybody interested?

I've got an 1190r and am relatively confident I'd do well. Would be fun but it'll be difficult for me to get off work. One awful thing about working at a motorcycle shop, never getting time off..

Sieg, I printed off the membership form for the club, filled it out, but it's still sitting on my desk. I could help do anything down there for that GS Challenge, and I could show up with a filled out form, and a check. Would that get me in?
Let me know if you still need volunteers. I am still gimping around from April ankle surgery, but I get around ok.

And I'll get my gps out and see where that bridge is. It was a named waypoint.

If you really want to do it, get 15 or 20 like minded guys together and we could have a small event on a regular ride weekend. We'd need enough to cover expenses, but we wouldn't need to make a profit. We could pay it all back in purse money.

We've actually had a good response from the MTRA members and the GS Giants organization. (I though there would be more guys here interested.)
Anyway I'll keep you in mind but it looks like we have enough at this time. Don't have to be a member to participate, work or spectate in the events. (But we'd like to have you as a member) I think entry at the GS Challenge will be $10 or $15 for the weekend, camping included. I'll be at the club the Aug. and Sep. ride weekends, working on the course/test, if you stop in then you can join. Thanks!

Weather isn't looking to bad for this Saturday, so I'm planning on getting up early, slabbing it up to Eagleville, follow the track to Union Covered Bridge or possibly farther south. May be too optimistic distance wise, but I'm counting on a long day in the saddle.

Went for a ride last Saturday to try out the Eagleville to Union Covered Bridge section of the TMOT Central Track, needless to say it needs some work, but hell it was a good ride

West side of Eagleville town square

Most of the gravel roads were a little thin on gravel

Some roads had no gravel at all

Some showed as roads on the map, but were more like two track. I didn't finish following this road to see if it actually went anywhere, I was riding solo and didn't feel like taking any chances.

I lost track of all of the plank bridges I crossed

Stopped in at Crowder State Park, couldn't believe how empty the place was right before the big eclipse

Also stopped at Locust Creek Covered Bridge State Historical Site, it's about 1/4 mile walk from the parking area to where the bridge now resides.

To the left of the wooden walkway was a gate and stream crossing that I knew I could do easily on my 690 and ride right on up to the bridge, but it didn't seem right to do such a thing so I walked it, and took a selfie.

I also stopped in at Pershing State Park, again very empty place, I thought the campgrounds would be packed in anticipation of the great eclipse, the parks were a bit north of the total eclipse areas but easy driving distance.

All in all it was a great day of riding, due to reroutes, exploring, bridges being replaced, etc, etc, I didn't quite make my goal of Union Covered Bridge. I'm working on some reroutes, track editing, etc and hope to ride this again either Friday Sept 1st or Saturday Sept 2nd.

Good to see your out riding! Good to see your working on the Central track.
BUT............I thought when you posted those unproven tracks it was a little premature. Some may just down load and ride, (I know of at least one person that thought it was good to go) getting them selves in trouble. Thinking hell these were posted up as the TMOT Central, this road must go through and be public. :dunno I guess that will make it an adventure. :hmmmmm

Sieg, I mainly posted that track for Bashrs review, but I understand I screwed up and should have put a disclaimer on there. I pulled the track down this morning. I plan on working the reroutes this week and re-riding Eagleville to Union covered bridge next weekend if the weather is good. I'll e-mail you.

I apologize to anyone who thought the track was completed. While riding the track on Saturday, I did come across one road that had a hot wire across it so I turned around, pulled out my paper maps and did a quick reroute. I never condone trespassing, if I see a hot wire, fence, gate, no trespassing sign, keep out sign, stay out sign, purple paint, planted crops where a road at one time was, or anything else that makes it look to be a private road I reroute and avoid it. As I was traveling eastward on a gravel road that should have ended at a t-intersection with a north south road, I was surprised to see the road had been plowed under and covered in soybeans, the road signs were still there - another reroute to be done.

    Thanks for your help.

I had to go to Jeff City early this morning for my son's Cross Country meet. On the way back to O'Fallon I did about 46 miles of the northern TMOT.

I was impressed that it went this close to the Callaway power plant...

    2017-08-26 12.46.14.jpg

And there were a couple nice bridges like this...

    2017-08-26 13.28.14.jpg

I also stopped at Crane's in Williamsburg for some ice cream... No pics though! That's a definite must-stop if you're on this piece of the TMOT!

It was a great ride and I couldn't have asked for better weather.

Thanks to @bash3r and the rest of the crew who put these together!

Scott, I kind of threw it out there on Aug 17th that I was planning on doing some riding that weekend, wondered if anyone would bite LOL.

Give Coy a shout, I should be down that way in about three weeks getting in some riding with Coy and a couple of other inmates on here.

Give me some notice before you come up this way, we sold the house and moved into a rental in town while we look for our next place , may have to build, I already miss my shop.

After breaking each leg in a span of less than 6 months, I really don't need any prodding hehehe - smartass

My buddy (AV8RJ) and I were riding Massas Creek (south to north) on a pair of R1200 GSAs and crossed paths with 3 adventure riders headed south. Thought maybe we'd cross paths again on Lost Creek (we were riding it north to south) but had it to ourselves. Any inmates out on Massas Creek this morning?
