That's it. I didnt know that jet moved.
Tony K. Knows where to eat.
You state the obvious.
Man that bike looks a lot cleaner than the last time I saw it by a bridge
Haha!! Spent a long time and $$$ in the car wash. I did about 50/50 gravel and pavement going out to this place, but the gravel was just wet.. And fast.
No dirt roads!! I'm letting those dry a bit.
From below.. I'm sure these are helpful.. (I will point out,,, it's a covered bridge, there aren't too many left in MO)
I also posted earlier about "French speaking area" I'm just trying to be helpful..
I'm a thread killer. I was hoping someone would be able to make that long trek to see the Eiffel Tower by now... Did I go too far for you lightweights??
Ha, just kidding!
Tony K does not have a camera, but has C'd that bridge in person.
I first saw a picture of that bridge when I had lunch in Madison Mo. A small cafe on Main Street. The picture made the bridge look pretty neat.
Decided then that some day I'd get there on my bike.
The ride out from St Louis isn't bad. I found a lot of fast gravel west of 61.
Hope someone gets over there.
Tony, maybe I should meet you there and take your picture. Ha
Hopefully I can get over there from KC this weekend, weather and time permitting
Oh boy.. :eek1 this may be moving west.. I was afraid of that.
I actually thought somebody from Columbia would grab it.
Guess I'll have to plan a KC trip.
Ok, so if I go out and take a pic on a different bike, can I resurrect this thread?
Come on, can't somebody ride to Paris???
Crap, wasn't paying attention... I can absolutely get to Paris, if I can get a day to do it. So here's a warning to you guys in central MO... if I pick this one up, I'll be moving the tag north.
Probably kill the thread for good, but hey, it's an adventure, right?
Go for it! I'm tired of being the thread killer.. Ha. I love riding in northern Mo..
Do it...I dare ya!
It will then languish like the Northeast MO tag-o-rama (which I had hoped to move this past weekend, but my trip on Sunday to Kirksville got postponed).
Don't even get me started on the NE MO thread. The guy who started it seems to think that "northeast Missouri" starts just outside the St. Louis city limits. I took a poll of real NE MO residents, and very very few considered Bowling Green "in" the region. Most considered New London to be on the southernmost border of the area, and a few thought Hannibal was far enough south to be called the border. Only one agreed with Bowling Green.
A poll doesn't move that tag. Its still there and waiting. I think the food makes it worth it, could have been a cemetery, tree or some other non-yummy destination.
Well aware that a poll doesn't move the tag, thank you.
I've noticed that people who live in the greater St. Louis area think the entire state is defined by the limits of their region; northeast MO starts just south of Moscow Mills, southeast just about Oakville, and I don't know if they think KCMO is in the same state or not. But then, I've heard people in Illinois say much the same thing about Chicago, so there you go.
I once considered starting a "Real Northeast Missouri Tag Thread" with limits more consistent with my "poll." But the fact is, there aren't enough ADVers up here to make it worthwhile; if there were, the existing tag would have moved by now. I do not personally know another dual sport rider who lives in this area (in fact, as of right now I haven't met ANY other dual sport riders).
Funny thing, though. I've often wished I lived in an area with more ADVers; actual socializing would be a heck of a lot more fun than online socializing. But then I realize, many of those ADVers in St. Louis or wherever who are always talking about getting together to ride or eat or drink or whatever have to ride a substantial distance to find a dirt road. I go roughly five miles on gravel to get to a dirt road. So it's a bit of a trade-off.
Anyway. With any luck, I may pick up THIS tag today.
I'm a St Louis guy. Always thought NE Mo started around Hannibal. Who knows?? Hope that river (under the covered bridge) isn't up too high!!
Looking forward to next tag.
Thank you! Nice to know it's not as bad as it seems.
So here it is:
New tag shortly; have to share the computer.
