Anybody else around here keep up with MLS Soccer here in the states? Here in Houston we've got a beautiful new downtown soccer stadium, and the average attendance is higher than the Houston Astros baseball team's. The overall quality of play in MLS can't match the level of English Premier League, but the fast pace and physical play is similar, and I think it's more entertaining to watch than a lot of the other leagues. I think professional soccer has finally got a foothold here!

I'd rather chew my own eyes out, than watch that.

There's a little clapboard Presbyterian church on a hill outside of town. Its average attendance is higher that the Houston Astros baseball team's.

My impression is the Colorado Rapids do fairly well in attendance.

I'm a World Cup fan. Not really a soccer fan so can't say I've had much interest in going.

Went last year to a UNM Men's soccer game. Even my long suffering German friend (we drag her to UNM football) thought it was "pretty boring.":lol3

I think the Galaxy does OK out here. I prefer to watch Champions League if I have the time. I feel like the MLS gets the other leagues' washouts.

I genuinely love World Cup soccer.

The MLS - meh. I can watch it, but there is no real desire / motivation to do it.

The talent in the euro leagues is so much higher. I feel bad bitching about talent levels considering my old school (Michigan Tech) is D-2 in anything and everything outside of hockey, but the MLS may as well be D-2 of Europe.

It is a sport I hope will take a larger hold in the U.S. - the endurance training is unreal. You look at a soccer player, you think nothing of them until a) the shirt comes off or b) they run 100m faster than you do 50m. Amazing athletes based on endurance, quickness, and agility. Overall strength, probably lower, but for the game they don't need it.

I think hockey has the best all-around athletes, albeit undersized.

I follow it. Vancouver Whitecaps in our area. Second year in the league and they're doing okay. Hoping they can hold on and make it to the playoffs.

The Portland Timbers were great 30 years ago with Peter 'The Wizard of Nod" Withe.
Think they sold 12,000 season tickets this year.

There's not a team here so I don't watch it, but I wish there was. The owners of the Vikings got first dibs on whatever they name the new Metrodome if MLS expands here, so it just might happen. :thumb
