I just wanted to say thanks again for sharing the adventure.

Between Simba's and RRR's reports, I was able to convince my gf to visit St George and Moab on our Vegas trip a few weeks ago.
I kid you not, your photos clinched the idea to rent a side-by-side to explore M&M trail.
She's hooked! Part one of master plan complete.
Now we have all summer to ride back roads and trails around here, and she'll be ready for a "real" Moab bike adventure. :clap

Pardon the extra wheels, my gf has ridden sport bikes for many years but has zero offroad experience - this was necessary to get her hooked.

excellent--another Couple hooked to Utah area trails and rides. The National Parks in Utah and Colorado area are a must see. Slow introduction to off road is best.

    Take Care and Thanks,

Notwithstanding the title, anyone ride Schaffer Trail in mid June? Wondering if it's too hot then.

I have done it in April, June, July and August. I would not say that its so hot where its miserable. But everybody has different heat tolerance. I have even done the entire White Rim Trail in August---I was fine but my riding buddies were uncomfortable and wanted to keep the airflow going.

I advise that you carry extra water and a way to shed layers if need be.

I think you will be fine. But always have a companion rider if possible.

    Go For It.

I had to reassure the three riders that with enough courage and determination they could cross the raging Stream at Onion Creek.

Same story here. I will be there in a couple of weeks and we have a side by side rented. My wife loves riding on the street but no way she (or me) would have enjoyed 2 up off road. Can't wait!

Not all of Moab's treasures require a motorcycle or ATV or a 4 wheel drive.
The National Parks (Arches, Canyonland) and Dead Horse State Park have paved roads and incredible view points.

SR128 is very scenic. The road to Potash and Musselman Arch are very scenic but will require a 4 wheel drive or ATV past Potash. Going up and down the Schafer switchbacks is worthwhile. Easy trails include Onion Creek, Gemini Bridges and only slightly more moderate would be Chicken Corners.

There is plenty to do in Moab. I have barely touched the surface.

Enjoy your trip. The CityMarket has most groceries you would need---the restaurants can become crowded and somewhat expensive.

Simba, you should just get it over with already & move to Utah! RRR can give you a tour of all the upscale communities in the St George area. There are also lots of spas to keep your better half entertained...
