It's my understanding that crump is in aus. Awaiting a collarbone surgery which is why he retired from speedway racing at the end of this season.

I've seen crump ride, at auburn for USA vs the world sometime about 2007/8.

especially excited becaue my europe trip was cancelled for 2013, and this is as close as it gets to a real GP.

American icon Greg Hancock is tipping SGP rival Tomasz Gollob to make himself at home on the tight, 200-metre City of Industry track in the Monster Energy World Speedway Invitational tonight.
The star-studded event, which gets underway at 7.30pm local time (3.30am UK time), is arguably the biggest meeting staged in California since the World Team Cup Final took place at Long Beach in 1988.

Hancock and 1996 world champion Billy Hamill face a fierce fight for supremacy in their own back yard as SGP stars Gollob, Antonio Lindback and Freddie Lindgren line-up against them.

Seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls, two-time FIM Speedway World Cup winner Hans Andersen, 2011 World Under-21 champion Maciej Janowski, Team GB rider Edward Kennett and American international Ricky Wells also take to the track near Los Angeles.

Gollob’s appearance in the meeting has raised many eyebrows, given that he has built his reputation on tracks well over 300-metres long in Poland.

But Hancock has raced against the Torun star his entire career and knows the Bydgoszcz-born legend has the class to adapt to a much tighter circuit in the States.
"Tomasz is probably going to shock a lot of you. He’s quite capable. The first two laps are going to be quite interesting, but he’s a talent on a motorcycle."

    - Greg Hancock

He said: “Tomasz is probably going to shock a lot of you. He’s quite capable. The first two laps are going to be quite interesting, but he’s a talent on a motorcycle.

“You’ve got guys who are a little more extravagant like Lindback. You’ve got Freddie coming too, who is a bit tidier. Scott knows his way around tracks like this. He’ll be one of the toughest competitors I think.
“There is so much excitement. The fans have seen these guys on TV and what they do. So this is going to be a blast for everyone.”

Despite all the hype surrounding the meeting, there are no World Championship points at stake tonight.
But Hancock is determined to flex his muscles in front of a home crowd, expecting him to kick some ass.
“For sure,” Hancock smiled. “I expect myself to kick some ass too. I race against these guys all year long. I’m going there to have fun, but I want the upper hand at the end of the night.”

MONSTER ENERGY WORLD SPEEDWAY INVITATIONAL DRAW: 1 Bryan Yarrow, 2 Charlie Venegas, 3 Billy Janniro, 4 Billy Hamill, 5 Freddie Lindgren, 6 Ricky Wells, 7 Jimmy Fishback, 8 Hans Andersen, 9 Scott Nicholls, 10 Antonio Lindback, 11 Edward Kennett, 12 Greg Hancock, 13 Gino Manzares, 14 Tyson Burmeister, 15 Maciej Janowski, 16 Tomasz Gollob, R1 Austin Novratil, R2 Rocco Scopellite.

If you're worried about the weather, Industry Hills is at a horse show arena with a roof over the seats and track.
The humidity is going to make the track quick.

It's sucks that Sayfutdinov didn't make it. I saw Russian flag on the flyer. To be honest I kind of expected a lot more GP stars. Oh well, it's going to be great night anyways.

Gollob dont ride tracks that small. He looked like he was fighting it a lot any time he tried to go quick. He pretty much just gave away any position he had. I has standing down at the bottom when he left. still had his suit on and carrying his helmet he did not look to happy.

My two favorite riders had to be Kennet and Lindback. Lindback had a rough start of the meet but seemed like the only guy trying to make the outside work other than maybe Hancock.

Kennet rode hard and was really trying to win races not just parade around. It looked like he made a mistake in the semi or had a failure and was bummed he did not make the main. I felt the same about Hans Andersen he seemed to really by trying but having a hard time with the track, I actually talked to him for a bit after the races he has not been on a bike for 2 months and wrestling with that bike and track seemed to have wore him out a bit.

It was nice to see Austin Novratil get to get some laps in as a reserve and score points. Austin has a bright future the kids rides smart and has skill and seems to get better and better every time I see him ride. Too bad he was a reserve. Gino Manzares was trying way to hard and I think only completed one lap the entire night. That kid was looking dangerous.

All in all it was a good night. I got to meet Lindback, Anderson, Kennet, Nichols and Lindgren and had a great time :clap

Thanks to Kelly Inman, Monster Energy and everybody at Indusrty for putting this thing on :freaky

Looking back I think our reserve Novratil scored more points then both the Pol's combined (Gollob,Janowski) them guys really dont like the sort tracks...But I am sure they both would eat most our boys alive on the big tracks.

Gollob was pleasant enough after his last race, I chased him all night for an autograph, he waved me over, signed and shook hands.

Lindback was definitely on the gas when he looped out on the back straight.

I'm surprised the Euro's agreed to ride without an AirFence.

I'll find out about Kennett's troubles today, his wrench is my neighbor.

Lindback, was straight goin for it, seemed to really adapt well to the tight track and rode hard every time the tapes went up.

Nichols was good early, and the track seemed to make him work harder than the long tracks, wearing him out, but still he gave what he had every race.

Kennet, what a talent, but you could tell after 4 laps when talking to the announcer guy, was gassed out.

I wish all these guys could come over for a month during the summer and ride every track in a sort of US vs. the World Series. I bet they'd get used to it, and really give us some hell
