Heck-----if you live in or near Stevensville---------you've surely had coffee at "BigDog Coffee"-----on the East side of rt.93-----just a little shack ?????

    Been by there many times.

Great report! I haven't been to some of those areas since I was a kid. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and some ride ideas for this summer! :clap

I don't often run through the coffee shacks, but I think I've seen it. I live 5 miles out of Stevensville.

    Another excellent ride, and report.
    I beg to differ, Sir.
And I offer the XR650L as evidence.

Great job, Ron. Looking forward to summer and fall.

Made that same stop a few years back on my KLR.

Previous to that in 2000, I had actually been dispatched there from Canada to assist on a forest fire near Hamilton. You would have driven by the fire site on the way into the city.

Great report. I love riding Montana and have been contemplating doing another trip out to explore more of the back country and old ghost towns.

Have you ever seen the PBS show "Alone in the Wilderness"? I have to confess that when I read you report I hear the person who narrated that show saying it and it really makes it a fabulous read.

    Thanks

First off, this is a great thread. Too bad about the flash flood in Bannack.

Road Agent Rock wouldn't have meant anything to me a week or so ago, but I happen to be reading a short book "Outlaw Tales of Idaho". In it, it mentions Henry Plummers short stay in Lewiston, ID and that he then traveled to Montana. It also mentions, that perhaps (possibly) Sheriff Henry Plummer "agents" had a hand in the murder of Lloyd Magruder "Magruder Massacre" of which the Magruder Corridor is named. Apparently, Magruder knew Plummer, all to well!

    Again, great ride report!

Was a really rugged existence 150 years ago. Weeks to cover what we cover in a day now, but this style of riding gives a connection to the past. Intoxicating.

I fell in love with Montana many years ago while working in that area. I always wanted to move up there but we all know how life gets in the way of our young man dreams. You did an excellent job of chronicling your adventure throughout the state. Not sure I would ever move there now but it's on my list of places to ride.
Thanks for sharing your ride with us. You did well.
    Stay safe man.

Ken, Thanks for the comment. We had to leave MT for 9 years, and couldn't be happier to return home. This trip was a re-visit of many of my earlier (and younger) haunts, plus an opportunity to introduce a friend to MT.

Your report brought back good memories of Montana. Explored areas around Missoula/Drummond in 2011 but in a 4x4. Need to visit again with my KTM.
