I like it a lot, but according to what I've read, it's not coming to the states...at least not this year. I sure like the 5+ gallon fuel tank and being able to see the engine.

I'd a bought an SE. but at 52 and 5'10" with bad hammies and knees, I can barely get my leg over the 990.

I'd trade in my '06 950 SM for one of those. A real seat, real instruments in the dash like a grownup's bike. I like the bigger tank and small windshield. I thought the SM was ugly till I rode one. It works so well that I started to like the looks too.

I love it and will certainly consider it for my next bike. That's if they make it available in Canada by then.

I've had my 950SM for a year. It works great, but I still think it's ugly! :huh

...and came out looking better! (Must have been two really nice trucks...).

I'm glad it's not coming here, cause I really like it and can't afford another bike. I'm happy w/ my SM.

Sadly though I talked to the KTM guys at the Chicago show last weekend and they said it's not coming over anytime in the near future as far as they knew.

I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time...:lol3 ), but I think he's asking about the riding style of the rider (i.e., putting his foot down in a turn on pavement), not the bike.

If that's the question, my answer is, no, I try not to unless I absolutely have to. The first ten years of riding bikes for me was all motocross, so I do have the habit pretty ingrained, but I've tried really hard to break it (lest I break something else, like my ankle...).

Whenever I'm riding pavement, I try to corner in the 'sportbike' style, partly because it's more effective (on pavement...) and partly because it gets me out of the old habits of trying to turn like I'm on dirt when I'm not.

I think KTM was prolly trying to emphasize the 'Supermoto' aspect of the bike in the pic, but it's not a style I would personally emulate.

First off, it's a marketing picture, not a recommendation of "how to ride".
Secondly, some details within the pic give some clues as to why he's got his foot out. It's wet, he's just ridden across painted stripes (and those are like ice when wet), and it seems he's making a quick right/left off the main road towards the camera. The contact patch of the front tire is very small, and not in line with the rear, so he's accelerating out of his line-change, and maybe saving a front-end wash-out at the same time. Who knows? When you put out your foot on pavement, it usually means you're at the edge of disaster or coming back from it. The boots he's wearing wouldn't last long riding SM-style, as those are touring boots with a thin sole.
    Or not.

Looks like they're tricking us. Parking lot speed, he's picking up his foot after just starting out. Notice the lack of spray off the tires. He's barely moving. I do that all the time in parking lots with my Buell, I want to be ready for when I clunk into the steering stops.
