Not only did he add a link to this thread but he called us "my friends". :eek1
He may be on mortar or even snortin' drywall mud. Who knows.
I toyed with the idea of reporting ('tis my curmudgeonly nature ya see), but for what? And if someone buys a magneto for a /5 /6 or /7 for $700 and expects to work (as a magneto), who is the bigger fool? After all, cave canem (or is it caveat emptor, my Latin is rusty????).
Either way, it's Darwin in action....
"Caveat Emptor", Bill.
You post nailed my feelings exactly.
Oh boy! Only $50!
Q: is it made of gold? Jun-04-12
A: Hello, Thank you for your question. No, we do not believe that there is any gold in this part. We haven't spectro analyzed the part, but suspect it is constructed of a combination of super-rare astro-metal called Farfegnugentonium and Bavarian creme. Thanks for shopping. -Dan
He knows damn well it's not worth that, he's just poking fun at this point.
That's three point range Blaine. Well played.
Well his international shipping charges are very decent .
This guy has some interesting ideas about the origins of his parts AND their value!
From a 1960-69 R75/6. Wow that IS rare.
If you do a few Ebay searches you will find this sort of pricing is quite common throughout Ebay, but particularly for out of print books.
As someone has already said, a listing costs nothing, and it seems a lot of wise guys just list stuff they probably don't even have at a silly price, and if someone buys at they can buy one in at MSP and still make a profit.
Cheet. Are we looking at the same seat?
Photo from the ad:
Must be one of the rare unobtainium castings that BMW never experimented with in back to the future. The seller has to be telling porkie pies as they even have their questions switched off.

Hey now. That's NLA West German dust we're looking at. Top dollar holler.
VICSPARTS IS AT IT AGAIN!
Pricey, but not quite as outlandish as some of the other stuff considering it does have a driveshaft in it too. I like the fact that he apparently dipped it in mud before photographing it for sale. At least just spend 1 minute wiping the crap off of it if you're going to ask top dollar for it. He's got "best offer" enabled which will allow me to offer him $10 for it.
read the ad. first of all the price is WAAY off base, (check around) and what gets me is apparently he thinks this is for a 60-69 /2 bike
(it's a SWB 70-73 swingarm)
Surely the included final drive gasket makes it even more of a deal. Plug n play, man.
Um, that price is EIGHTfourtyseven....
I think of something like this as Plug n Pray.
Some of the weasel-wording in the vicsparts ads is a bit draconian:
IOW, if it don't work, T.S.
Yeah but, you can buy it even if he doesn't like you!
