What a small, weird world. I've dealt with that guy outside of ebay and he's been a real help with getting titles for old barn find motorcycles. His parts prices are way off, though.

    Hey, me too!:freaky

    Charlie, seriously, are you stoned?
Spend a month selling stuff on Ebay, then come back and edit your post.

I agree with alot of what you say Charlie. But not all of it.
If a seller asks $100.00 for a part that is obviously nothing more than a pile of rusty doo-doo, well..............don't buy it.
    Pretty simple.
If you see a part that is new and that is offered at twice the price of what it retails for,........................don't buy it.
    Also simple.
It in no way indicates that the seller is a "crook", he's not forcing anyone to buy those parts, or lying or making false claims about said parts to get the money from you the buyer. He's just Hopeful. So.................don't buy it.
BUT! when they do start making false claims or misrepresenting items, or only showing one really bad picture of an item, ASK Questions. I've had sellers send me better pictures because I told him the truth that the picture was not going to sell the item.
Here's a good example: right now I have a factory original /5 tool kit listed, correct and complete from the period. I have a very high price on this. VERY HIGH. Does that make me a dishonest crook? I don't think so or I wouldn't be sleeping at night.
I simply am not willing to take less money than my opening bid for it. Some collector who has a nice original /5 will get a great opportunity to own a hard to get original correct kit, and will pony up. It's just a matter of how long I'm willing to wait. Oh and between Paypal and EBAY I get to pay them 12 percent of of my take, INCLUDING the shipping.
What it boils down to, (and I really am saddened that I have to say this) Ebay as a corporation sucks. I choose to participate because it has the best market saturation for getting my parts and accessories out into the world.
When I was hawking used and new parts for BOBS BMW, we didn't have the internet yet and the market wasn't so saturated so we commanded very good prices for our used products. We now have Ebay which is great for buyers because the market is so saturated that the prices are at an all time low.
Unfortunately, as you say correctly, Ebay is not doing much to help buyers, but they aren't doing ANYTHING to help sellers. NADA, Nothing etc.

Yes I think we are stuck with it as much as both sides may complain.

I understand a rare original item going sometimes for more money than I want to pay.

I have learned to eliminate certain sellers that I want to avoid so my attitude might improve.

And Groco is manufactured in Maryland. How about that?

I'm going to eliminate my diatrabe in 24 or something. i don't think my ranting needs to stay up. Thanks for putting up with me sometimes.

This is still America, We still have the right to our opinions. If we all thought the same and acted the same, well that would mean that Big Brother is winning.

My eBay experience goes back to 1997....

The worst was when I sold a couple very broken Apple PowerBook Duo laptops. I sold them "as is" and for parts only. I was emphatic that they were broken and inoperable.

Of course, some mouth breather bought the lot.

He had the audacity to slag me in my ratings and wrote that he expected "....working computers". I contacted eBay and they said basically tough nuts.

Now, I am dead on specific and include "sold as is, where is" in all my listings, CYA and caveat emptour y'all.

I'm a 11+ year ebay member, and was a "power seller" for a while. The only one non-positive feedback I received was a very similar situation. An electronic device sold as-is, non-working, and I was to blame. That, among with some changes I noticed in about 06-07, just backs up wirewrkrs sentiments. Ebay/paypal favors the buyer no matter how mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging they are.

Edit, oh and only $9000 for this "custom bobber" (with 0 bids):

Yeah if you look at his other auctions he has always had "high" hopes for his parts.
