While its not the most powerful, biggest, best or sexiest bike around....I love my 2001 Dakar. While Id maybe consider switching to an F800GS, the price would REALLY have to be right.

Id love to have a 640ADV, but I dont think Id ditch my Dakar to do it. It makes me smile every time I ride.

I feel like such a Douche for trading mine. Had some times I wouldn't trade for the world on the bike I got in trade, but it's just a bike. My 07 640A had something else to it...

Waaaay back in 1974 I bought my BMW R90/6 brand new. Still have it. 172,000 miles of trouble free
riding. Now out of service 'til I can get around to restoring it. Once I get it restored, I'll start racking
    up the miles again.
    But I'll NEVER sell it!

If you were in NNJ way back then, did you buy it from The Sport Spot in Wayne?

Beginning to feel that way about my '04 Road King Classic. I have never cleaned any vehicle as much as I have this......and I enjoy doing so. I will never part with my '99 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, no other truck even sparks any interest. Beginning to be that way about the Road King. Haven't really looked at other bikes since I bought it.....very weird, very, very weird. I have always been very fickle when it comes to transportation....always looking for the "next" one....maybe not any more. That is when I know it is the right one. Had my truck for 10 years....hope for at least 10 more. I can see me on the Harley for a very long time.

My (so weird to say that now) 73 r60/5. Dad bought it before I was born, stopped riding it in the early '80s. I've been staring at it sitting unused in the garage my entire life. Since I had my first ride on it in August '11, I don't think I'm ever going to get rid of it.

    This bike.

This is my second 2000 SV. I LOVE SVs. I bought it like this.

Did a bit of this with it.

    Then a little of this.

Then it sat in the corner of the garage for 4 years when the clip-ons and rear sets got far too uncomfortable for my jacked up back and neck.

I just drug it out two weeks ago after selling my Buell Cyclone and started setting it up to be a comfortable commuter/weekend play bike. I'll be done in another week or so.

I'll never sell this one. Too many good memories.

My '73 cb750 for sure, and probably my '08 Buell Lightning. I'd probably sell the Buell for a good price, then go buy another.

My 1993 Ducati Monster M900. I bought it brand new, first year of production, with 6 miles on it. I now have almost 20 years and over 200K miles on it, and I still love it as much as the day I first brought it home.

Also my 1960 Heinkel scooter. I had a lot of great adventures on that bike, and it has a good stories from before I owned it as well. I don't ride it a lot anymore; it's mostly sentimental, but I'm keeping it forever.

Well, that doesn't make you a bad person. :lol3
My Dad owned The Sport Spot, that's why I was wondering if you were a customer once upon a time.

    My 2000 RM250 2-stroke.

Bought as a non-runner. Got it running the first time and the motor sounded exactly like a watch in a blender.

I put way too much money into that bike but now it's nearly a brand new machine. It's a finicky lil' bitch and the carb will most likely never be dialed in. But its one of those bikes that challenged me and perplexed me so much I can never part with it. I have spent countless hours sitting on the stool in my garage trying to out wit that bike. And I even think once in a while she lets me feel like I'm winning.

Also, my 2001 F350 Dually. I know it's not a bike but I thought it was worth mentioning. 10+ years and 200k and we're not anywhere near finished with each other.

Sorry, I don't. I'm far too discombooberated to pull off something like that.

This is my 06 sv650. Bought it new as my first bike.

I always thought it was a good bike. I turned it into a race bike, so I had to buy a street bike to get to school.
First bought a zx6, sold it again within a month. Then bought a fz1, good bike, but didnt like the I4. Now I have a KLR 650 and will probably be gone in a year.

I will never sell the sv. After riding other bikes I love the sv even more. Just turned the sv back into a street bike. :)

That's funny. I'm about to sell my KLR too (I hate it). I think I'll buy and modify an XR650l when the KLR leaves.
