There are many things to enjoy about riding.

    Track days
    Poker runs
    Lunch rides
    Dinner rides
    Solo rides
    Group rides
    Sunday cruises
    Sunday back roads blasts
    Commuting to work
100 mile per day touring, taking in all the local sights
1000 mile per day LD riding

I like it all. Well, except for the bar-hopping rides. That doesn't do much for me.

Bike: Harley dyna low rider, about 900 miles from ne Colorado to Madison Wisconsin in 2006, with my pregnant wife on the tiny back seat. That woman is tough. :lol3

Bike: BMW f650 Dakar, 2009, about 1300km so roughly 800 miles. This was an aborted iron butt ride, north from Helsinki to northcape. I was still comfortable but hit fog with the midnight sun low behind and damn near got killed by a herd of reindeer north of the town of Sodankylä, finland. Decided to put safety first and pulled off the road and try again another day.

I think that is an unfair characterization (even though I know this is just your opinion). Lots of people enjoy doing long rides in a short time-frame for the challenge involved in doing so. It is quite enjoyable to set a lofty goal and achieve it, even if the actual ride isn't so enjoyable.

Duluth MN. to Los Angeles CA. in under 24 hrs way back in my late 20's. This was back when most
states didn't throw you in jail for going 150MPH and I was young, dumb and full of cum"

In my younger days I rode 1000 to 1500 mile days all the time, sometimes a few times a month. Now
at my (old) age 1000 miles or just over in a day is enough for me.

I'll leave the most miles in 24 hours to you young guys out there, I'm to old for that $h!t now LOL"

Yall all ride safe out there Ya Hear"

Did it to prove I could ride 1000 miles in 24hrs. In the 10 years hence I never did it again. Quickly discovered during the rally that competitive time/distance riding holds little intrigue for me.

I never ended up sending in my paperwork, although my friend did. I didn't feel like I did anything worth bragging about. We left early Saturday, came back early Sunday, and I rode to work on Monday.

If I try it again, I'm going to do it on a CM200 or something--THAT would be a challenge. :lol3

I do agree that a there is no such thing as a bad ride, but I find after a certain point "making miles" overshadows everything else. I suppose after many years as a long haul driver, "making miles" has become a distasteful concept to me

For me riding is like eating a fine meal, it's to be savored for it's own sake, not a challenge to accomplished.

Thats why I said "I think". Nothing wrong doing what you enjoy if it is done safely and with consideration.
