Two weeks before I was set to head off for the 2008 OCR I was out riding my bicycle through the mountains when I was hit head on by a woman driving a four wheel drive. I was heading straight for her for about 60 metres with her completly on the wrong side of the road and an embankment on my left so had no where to go but hit her. I was doing 55kph and she was probaly doing 75kph. I dare say she was doing something else in the car other than driving? By the look of the photo I need to do a lot more riding to get rid of my spare tyre!? This was from collecting her rear vision mirror. Ambo ride to hospital sucking on the green stick and having had two hits of morphine. Incredibly I broke no bones but just had a lot of deep bruising and cuts and abrasions. By the way she has since been charged and I have got a very nice cheque from her insurance company for a new bike. I have also since found out that I need a total knee reconstruction. Rode to Adels Grove and back needing a knee reconstruction!! The offending vehicle. The dent was made with my knee, ouch. Could even manage a smile for the police photographer, helped by the morphine. Bloody good stuff that.
