I was riding down a 25mph residential street near my house today and rolled past a pair of these: http://www.feldfire.com/Pro-Tech-Titan-Structural-Glove-Long-Cuff_p_2827.html

Pro Tech Titan Structural Glove, Long Cuff New still in the packaging. When I got home and inspected them and learned they were Fireman's Gloves I rode back to the firehouse a block from where I found them and returned them. That was one very grateful Fireman.

I once returned a couple of bags of trash that a young lady accidentaly dropped from the hatch of her honda civic. Inside the bags there were a few bills with her address on them so I drove to her home, explained that I was an off duty sheriffs deputy and that I'd found something of hers and then left them with her. Grateful is not the word that springs to mind but still I just love being that helpful guy... :lol3

The most useful thing? This stick:

    <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/kvdSnRwjLtm26NRc3DG4-LCCvTEkqYpkDC1ww8oSPKQ?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pLSuoINBR_4/TsHY9Z0quhI/AAAAAAAABAQ/ekHoyJFsqvc/s800/IMAG0250.jpg" height="479" width="800" /></a></td></tr></table>

It was so useful, we put a spare stick in the toolkit in case the pedal fell off in an area with no sticks.

    That happened two days later.

Dozens of assorted tools ,sockets and tid bits scattered along Dunkle hollow for about three miles. undoubtably someone in a Jeep did not secure their tool box. It was like the Tool fairy was running from the law … we all got a useful thing for our bikes that day.

I've sorta BTDT. I had a partial that I'd cracked in half on a very cold Powerbar. Lived with it that way for months cause I was a broke college student.

I don't remember exactly what I was blowing out of my mouth, but along with whatever it was, there went my teeth!

Spent a good 20min trying to find the SOBs.

Most recently: blue handled channel lock pliers. :thumb I keep an eye out on the sides of the roads. Haven't found too much $$ but I keep hoping for $100 bills!

These things must be seen as disposable! You are not the first person in this thread that has found these on the side of the road, and when our house was built the plumber that did the install left a set on the counter in our new bathroom. I have used them more times than I can count in the past 4 years!

.....Was waiting at a red light and this old Dodge van comes bouncing along side of me with its' back doors open......
I could smell the ganja easily, and when they took off this down sleeping bag rolls out in front of me......hmmmm,
there they go with music blasting.....took it home that night, tried it out, but wound up not using it as I couldn't fit
my feet in the thing....it was a mummy bag., way too tight . Gave it to a street dude the following day.

I found a whole bunch of life jackets tied together with a cam strap..........they were my life jackets, I forgot to tie them in, luckily I saw them blow out in the rear view.:lol3

I wasn't on the bike, as astute observers may have guessed.:D

I WAS riding on the Iowa, Nebraska border (Loas? hills near Omaha) on a gravel back road a few years back, when I spotted a BODY rolled up in a piece of carpet:eek1 I did a u-turn to check it out, it was only some old clothes one shoe and some garbage rolled up and dumped:lol3 I had a good laugh at my overactive imagination, then got COMPLETELY soaked on my way back to my room.

My travel hat.....got a Clemson Tigers ballcap that I take with me everywhere I travel, keeps my bald head from getting sunburn...it's been to Europe, Africa, Canada, Deadhorse AK, and at least 35 other US states.

Last summer buddy and I were riding through WY and I stuffed it between my pack and a mesh bungee net after a photo stop at Lake Jenny / Grand Teton. We stopped for gas and bought a drink just south of Yellowstone and the hat was still thare but a few hours later when we reached the evening's stop it was gone. We had ridden about 150 miles after the gas stop.

Planned on going over one of the high off-pavement passes but because of the excessively cold and wet winter/spring the pass wasn't open and many other off-pavement roads we planned to ride were too wet so that night we re-routed ourselves and dedcided to backtrack and go through Yellowstone and up to Red Lodge then back down Bear Tooth Pass.

So the next morning I had the eagle eyes out and sure enough I found my hat along side of the road about 75 miles from where we stopped for the night. It was a little worse for the wear, looks like it had been run over a few times but I still have it.

Amongst my roadside finds have been all manner of things..

most recently, the end cap for my CBR's chain adjuster not 3 blocks from the house on the way to work....

then there's the random tools, a ratchet strap or two, every so often I'll stop and pick up whatever I happen across that just so happens to appear interesting. thus far there've been small adjustable wrenches, random prybars, occasionally the odd screwdriver, maybe a flashlight, once I even found a fork seal on the roadside. completely intact, which had me befuddled as to how it got off the fork on the road.....
