Would you believe after all of this my bank would not accept the charge! I have used the card in ATMs many times on this trip for amounts equal to the parts cost! WOW!!!:eek1 BMW Guatemala says it is easier with credit cards so I have sent them that info. Hopefully it will be accepted!

    Donnie-

You may want to call your credit card company to warn them about the charge, so they don't deny it. Common sense and banks don't go together, but their anti-fraud system may be throwing flags, even though you've been down there a bit.

My parts are supposed to be here today.

The lesson learned in the last couple of days is that it may be better to use your credit card to make purchases out of the country. I don't know if it would have made any difference had I been at the store to make the purchase with the Debit Card. However, I always use my Debit Card at ATMs with no problem.

    Hi Taz!

The parts are actually supposed to be enroute to me now. Thanks for the offer! I was in Antigua after leaving BMW Guatemala and was aware that there was a mechanic located there, I guess that would be you, but the moto was doing OK there!

In the end, the issue with the Debit Card was at my bank according to BMW, however the Credit Card went through with no problem.

    Donnie,

Have you called your bank to figure out the debit card situation? My experience has been when I'm traveling that they will sometimes lock the card until they hear from me. Now, if I'm going to be on the road for a while, I call in before I leave and give them sort of an itinerary.

I used to do that LIz, but now I am almost always gone. I was actually away from my house for 212 days last year. I have used my Debit Card at many ATMs here with no problem. I have not used it since yesterday. I have a telephone number for my contact at my bank, but I left it at home. :eek1 I have never used my Debit Card for anything other than ATMs when south of the border. I don't need any more Quetzales at this time, I plan to head to El Salvador tomorrow and they use US dollars. The parts manager at BMW told me in an email that it was normally easier with Credit Cards. That makes sense, as my bank is not an International Bank, but my Credit Card is.

    Donnie, hi!!

YAY! So glad you're on the road again! And you're so welcome.

We all know what it's like to be on the road and stuck. We've so lucky to have such a great group of minds, filled with experiences and ideas to help each other.

Enjoy your ride, and I'll PM you my details. For that matter, anyone else who has an old dead Hall Effect Sensors and cups they might want to send, that would be great.

    Safe ride!
