I thought MM went out of business couple years ago , maybe somebody bought them out .
Yeah they were bought out and have been back in production, including the introduction of a new bike (the Rebello) for about 10 months now. Currently they are only selling directly from the factory but I suspect that will change. I was lucky enough to pick up a 2010 scrambler this summer for a song. The new one is essentially unchanged other than paint and badge changes and the new leather bag. The modern Morinis are really brilliant bikes, very light for the size of bike, loads of usable power, really responsive steering and with the scrambler (and Gran Passo) you can take them just about where ever you want ... not to mention the scrambler is just a drop dead gorgeous bike. I couldn't pass up getting one. (though registering it in the states when I return might be interesting)

I like the scatchel, everybody needs someplace for their crap. It does need a good rack behind the seat for overflow crap.
Cool bike. Can take a guzzi griso or Ducati monster and make similar.
I read an article in a french webzine about Moto Morini and it's future.
One particular sentence caught my attention : "Concernant l'avenir proche, tous les modèles de la gamme existante vont recevoir une deuxième sonde lambda et de nouveaux réglages permettant une réponse plus douce et une baisse de consommation de 40%".
Translation: In the near future, all existing models will get a second lambda probe and new settings for a smoother throttle response and a fuel consumption reduced by 40 %. The article is from july 2013.
From the actual 8l/100km - 30 MPG, if the scrambler can go to 6l/100km - 40 MPG I would be willing to pay the 11k they are asking for it. Especially like this :
No Italian company goes out of business for very long. Someone is always offered enough incentive to pour money into them. Italians are very good at keeping things moving forward using Italian made components.
Something the US should think about.
Morinis are great bikes. Piaggio would be a great company to run with that horse. It competes with only a few bikes in their lineup and hits Ducati right in the nose.
