You could always bring a tent and camp out at the track. It's a good time for the most part as long as the weathers good. The only downside, drunks at 1 a.m finding its a wise idea to see who can hold their bike against the rev limiter longest. :norton

Camping? In Indiana in the summer? *shudder*

Did I mention that I had a buttload of hotel points?

I'll probably end up NW of town like I have in the past.

Supermike, It's only once. Stay at the Duc/Yam hotel downtown. That was the Sheretan City Centre when I was there 2011. New York rates, but worth it. NYC doesn't have MotoGP. :deal

Last year I was at some sooshy place too, but it was out on the beltway. I'd rather camp at the track in a tent...

Better than camping in Indiana in the winter! It's not that hot at night. Gets hot fast in the morning though.

Bring ear protection for the boy, it can get a bit loud in places.

Anyone watch the race from the GA seating around turns 7-9 ? Interested to know how the viewing is from there and also how crowded the area is during the race. Still trying to figure out if I should buy GA tickets or Reserved seating somewhere.

It's indy, you can't really see more than 1 or 2 corners anyway I think. I'll have to look and see what turn I was in, I can post up a little video. I did get sunburned something horrible whereas some folks in reserved seating I knew were nice and shaded in the grandstands

A right-left-right combination where you can see the pagoda in the background.

Looks like turns 7-8-9, viewed from one of the "spectator mounds"

    Track map is here:

I've been a few times and my fave spot was just off T4, right up in the highest seats under the overhang out of the sun. You get to see 4 corners and a bit of #5 too. When I was there in '10 it was general admission. Bring soft seating cushions or rent them there.

Thanks for the video and the seating recommendations.

Prior years, it used to be that the reserved seating ticket was good for all three days; now, it seems as if IMS changed it now to just for the day of the race. I guess you have to buy a GA ticket for Friday and Saturday now.

Haven't been to the GP in Indy for the last two years. Seeing as this is probably the last GP at Indy and also probably the last time to see NH in MotoGP, I figure I have to go. Let's hope for a race instead of a parade.

I've been every year, and I always watch the race from the NW vista GA area, good seats, can see a lot of track, and the big TV screen is right in front of you.
for practice and qualifying, I just wonder around the circuit, watching from wherever I am at the moment.
and yep, maybe the last year, and the last time to see Nicky race in GP.

Anyone got any feedback on the Corner 9 club? the tickets are pricey but over the course of 3 days being able to go inside to the ac and a bar and a decent seat might be worth it? There is also an outside grandstand reserved for turn 9 club tickets and parking is included.
I want to wander some during practice and qualifiying but I might pay the premium for the club if it's actually worth it, the concern is it might be a CF, anybody got any feedback?

I would also like to see the podium after the race, is it possible to get in front of the podium in time from the infield, do they let people get close enough to see it or do you have to stay in the stands across the track from it? :ear
