Dorna records and produces its own program, and ships the equipment and people necessary to do so around the world. Sometimes they might supplement their resources with local ones, but it is a Dorna show. Every MotoGP broadcast around the world--Fox, BBC, Eurosport, etc., is using the Dorna production. It costs a lot, but Dorna understands tv is everything . . .

Thanks for the info Tim I knew it was Dorna's production and had overall control of what was televised didn't know they used their own equipment and cameramen though.

Still better than seeing Flo :lol3

I really don't get the coverage model with Fox/SPEED-- what with the constant poor timing of commercial breaks that miss passes, and other action-stealing things they do (like the commentary before getting back to the feed). It can't all be bad luck/timing-- has to be some combination of incompetence, genuine misunderstanding of what people want to see, or deliberate sabotaging for some reason that I can't fathom.

The other thing I don't understand is covering the leader crossing the finish line all by himself while there's intense racing going on for other positions. That's not just Fox/SPEED, it seems they all do it for some reason.

Ok, I know it's better than the old days when there was no or very limited coverage; but geez.

They still had their regular commercials which were very entertaining when I said break away for other sports it would be ten to fifteen minutes with no replay on what happened while being away.

I have always thought this was done as some sort of agreement (for lack of better word) between the organizations and the teams so that the winning bike/sponsor would get some sort of guaranteed recognition for winning and nothing probably looks better for sponsors and manufactures than their bike crossing the finish line first. It does suck for the rest of us though.

No conspiracy. The point of racing is to win. No matter how good the other battles are, the race winner is what matters.

Who said anything about a conspiracy? I hypothesized that there was an agreement in place so that the winner got air time at the most influential point providing a reward for the sponsors which the team/rider deserve. Even if they did some sort of split screen no one would watch the winning bike run across the finish line solo when people are fighting for 2nd etc...

"Flo's as popular as ever right now," Progressive's Chief Marketing Officer, Jeff Charney, told ABCNews.com. "In fact, our research shows that she's actually gaining popularity with consumers, which is unheard of for a character who has been on the air for almost 100 commercials. We expect Flo to be around for a long time."

Good idea. Lets lessen the importance of winning.

She is 43 years old so I think they won't be holding back on the make up in the years to come.

    From the motogp website.

The only Honda rider to start from pole at Laguna Seca in the MotoGP era is Nicky Hayden, in 2005.
No rider has ever won at Laguna Seca in their rookie season in the premier class of GP racing.

The initial statement was regarding having to watch a single rider cross the finish line first while the viewers (except you) would prefer to watch a close battle for 2nd etc... in the final corners and the possible reasons for giving the viewers (-1) what they don't want.

If it's so bad pay for the feed. I remember when there was NO coverage live, interrupted, missed passes at all. If you wanted to know who won you had to READ about it in Cycle News. Yes Speed sometimes cuts the action at a less than ideal time, but it's free quit bitching ! Sad truth is "Dumbest Stuff on Wheels" probably sells more ads than the AMA/DMG/Josh Hayes show. I haven't followed the series since DMG took over and cancelled Road Atlanta.

Not only does he work out , he drinks beer too ! He's a partying narcissist I guess that makes it ok !

    I don't think so.

I am much happier paying Moto GP.com than I was paying Direct TV, I know that for sure.

If you have internet (you are here, so presumably you do) and you are willing to watch live, you can always get the world feed for all practices and all classes on firstrowsports.eu or vipbox.tv.

Yes, we've already run that topic into the ground. We are preparing to talk about what we can expect from JLo and DP this weekend with their injuries.

Speed/whoever manage to cut to commercial whenever there is a pass/change in the lead/crash. But, they catch up on replay.

Or cut to the team standing in the pits RIGHT as a pass is completed so you can't see if there is a counter move. Yeah, those are fraking great.
