Looks like a typical coastal California morning at the track for FP1, cool and misty. Hopefully no crashes!

I don't believe for a minute this is Marquez's first time on the track. Dude is seriously fast in fp1.

It's great to see Crutchlow and Rossi at the top for FP1.
FP2 will be a better indicator for race conditions.
Surprised Pedrosa didn't go out at all.
I don't think JLo or DP will be able to challenge for the podium.
Rossi, Crutchlow and Marquez look strong.
This could be Cal's best opportunity to win a race.

I think Marc was blocked on the last section for his fast lap. I am not saying he would have been fastest... but... :evil

Wow, that is impressive! About as impressive as when Bayliss set the Sears Point track record on his first visit?!? I have raced at Laguna and it is a scary and tricky track, even on an SV650! I can't imagine coming over the hill in T1 or down through Rainey curve with 250+ HP?!? :eek1

You could be right; OTOH, a damp FP1 isn't much to go by when these two are trying to minimize risk until Sunday.

    Yes.

Blake just stamped done to the Attack bike, walked away red flag with 11 minutes or so left to go.

    For now.

Bradl and Dovizioso have had a few good starts but come raceday they tend to fade- sometimes just a few positions, sometimes a bit more- when the really fast guys turn up the screws.

    Yep, I agree.
Got to go with Marquez for the win.
It's hard to choose between Rossi and Crutchlow for second and third.

Wow, you can keep saying it's only day one, just two free practices, and you can keep saying it's only round 9, halfway through the season. But, Marquez is no flash in the pan apparently, he just keeps running up front. Now, Laguna Seca where he's supposedly not ridden before, on top again?
