I hope the check is lame. My friend and I are both vegan so hard to find food at the track. First day we will bring less food and see how it is.

So - will Austin be a track for the riders ability or the bikes?

None have been there before- there is no tribal knowledge.

Would like to have seen Austin later in the schedule where the "new track" factor could shuffle the points standings a bit.

Still with THREE MotoGP rounds in the United States, I won't complain :D

Factory Honda and Yamaha were here a couple of weeks ago. Oh and Stefan Bradl too. So some of them manage to start the process of learning the track and setting up the bike. But yes, no race distance knowledge of the track for anybody. Even the tire manufacturer is only going from what the recent test showed. Should make it a bit more interesting.

The 2nd race of the year pays the same points as the 14th race of the year.

Ducati coincidentally launched their 1199 Panigale at COTA a few weeks back, with Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies in attendance, coincidentally. :deal

They just happened to run GPS to map the track while they were there, too, coincidentally.

Austin itself will have myriadchoices for you and your friend. Inside the track, however, could be tough. It's possible COTA can provide you with a menu of available concessions so you can plan accordingly. Or maybe contact someone at their concessions partner, Sodexo.

Ducati is going to need more help than that to turn things around. I think they could spend a month at each track and they wouldn't be competitive right now.:rofl

I'm not familiar with the track but perhaps someone who is can toss out a time and place for inmates to gather for a group pic. Perhaps once Sat and again Sunday. Anybody bringing and ADV flag?

    Just a thought.

Time is marching and the day of the race is ever closer at hand. :clap :freaky

I don't disagree. I was just trying to help WoodButcher make the point that teams have been to COTA. Yamaha even had Colin Edwards there on an R1.

    Yamaha... with Colin Edwards... :augie

I would agree that some laps around the course on any bike help some with learning the layout, but there is no way it is a replacement for a race bike at race speeds. They can't do any suspension or gearing set up without the race bikes on the track gathering data. But we already know that Honda and Yamaha are ahead of the game with their bikes. Getting two days (3 for Bradl and MM) extra on the track with no traffic helps them even more.

Thanks, yeah looking forward to some of the Austin food places. Have a few picked out. I think we will go for the sneak in, better to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission. There is always something to eat, but often fried crap stuff, or bad mexican beans.

Re: KS 34, hope you wear a 34 shirt or put up a 34 flag. I'm sure if there is enough of them the message will put a middle finger in the face of the COTA.

Remember when Biaggi got black flagged, the next race was Phillip Island. There lots of black flags with his number on them, that was good for a laugh.
