Anybody with Motoport gear willing to let me take a look at it? I have been thinking about getting the marathon stretch kevlar jacket and ultra II stretch kevlar pants. I'd like to see some Motoport gear in person before I make the commitment to buy. I got some small samples of the material from Wayne but I need more than that to help make the decision. I'm in north central Massachusetts.

Seeing it in person will seal the deal. Almost guarantee it.

I'm in Providence if you want to come down. I have Ultra II pants with Quad armor. About 75,000 miles on them. PM if you like.

I'm in CA so no help -- but once you see it you'll want it. It's really well made. Call Wayne to discuss -- he can do many variations as it's basically custom made. Two types of armor available, pocket choices, as much reflective material as you want etc. The zip out windproof liner is a must. I took a visit to the shop/factory in San Diego before I bought. I have the Cordura 1000 jacket and the stretch kevlar pants -- very comfortable. A very happy customer.

Best gear I've ever owned. If you were closer I'd be happy to show you. I'm betting you'll love it.

If you go to Providence. You gotta go to:

Olneyville NY System for Wieners and Coffee-milk

    Then

    Mijos Taco Truck for anything.

Warning - Not in the same night.

I love the service from Motoport but geat wise I think there have been more advancements that you should consider. The new impact padding in the BMW gear has proven itself for me. 40mph and in a rut, tossed me to the left on arm and sholder. The impact pads wen hard as a rock on the outside at point of impact and pad against me stayed softer.
No bruise, nothing. I weigh 190 and the fellow riders said if they hit in their gear something would have broken.

Bmw gear is not cheap but worth a comparison. Amazing tech, exact fit, and a cool look - kinda.

Wayne makes great product - but time to advance it.

The orange BMW NP protectors do go hard when you hit them (I tried with a hammer, though not while wearing them; I'll let somebody else try that:rofl). The protectors themselves are actually surprisingly affordable (elbow, shoulder ~$20, back ~$40), so you could retrofit other gear with them.

Wayne's got a pretty bad track record for sizing; your best bet would be to go to San Diego and see for yourself and then you could have him measure in person. He still messes up quite a bit in person but is more likely not to blame you for sending in bad measurements and get it taken of the 2nd or 3rd time around for free.

I've met Wayne. Pretty neat owner. He's a rider, former racer, who manufactures moto gear that simply works. To hear him talk about stitching, and the importance of doing it right, with the correct stitch and the correct thread material, sold me on the crashworthiness of his products. I love my motoport air mesh kevlar, wouldn't trade it for anything.

My airmesh burned thru in a sub 40mph crash. Wayne is passionate about his gear but there's probably no other "reputable" manufacturer out there who lies/exagerates as much as Wayne does.
His isn't near as strong/durable as he says - it just seems like it because its so uncomfortable.
All the other "worthless" gear on the planet isn't as bad as Wayne would like you to believe it is.

It certainly wont dry in minutes like he claims and it certainly wont keep out the rain without a liner for 30 minutes like he claims.
There are no returns - just passionate speaches about why his gear is the best on the planet, how awesome his stitching (which comes undone in under a year) is. He sent mine in grossly the wrong size and even the wrong color though he had it written down correctly. He wont offer any return on it though precisely because it is a "custom size" and "custom color".

No one disagrees that he's not a nice guy/passionate guy if you're interested in his product or praising it.

No one pushing him to fix mistakes he's made disagrees he's extremely flamable and nearly impossible to work with.

Careful when dealing with Wayne! It's a lot of money to spend on a suit you don't even know how it's going to fit!

Kevlar is fantastic in tension, but not in abrasion.

    Material physics is material physics.

There is a reason why most non-leather suits are made from Cordura.

    Cheers.

I don't know what % of Wayne's sales are "standard size/standard color" but everyone I know whose bought from him has ordered the "custom size" stuff which of course doesn't qualify.
I think all the kevlar gear is "custom"? No?

As to the 2nd hilighted part Wayne does not give out free gear. Period. He's blatantly said he's never not been able to repair something. That in itself doesn't attest to its durability - think about it; he'll charge you what it costs to build a new jacket/pants to "repair" it before giving you a replacement for free!
