I'm planning a trip to India for October and plan to rent a motorcycle for the month. I searched around the site and elsewhere. Some people purchased bikes and other rented. I'd prefer to rent than buy I think.

This looks like the best rental place in New Delhi - http://www.indiabikes.com/

I'd get a Honda Stunner 125. Seems ok, cheap and more reliable than the REs. Can anyone recommend another rental option that may have a better price or a good reputation?

    Thanks!

Just want to say for people in the future that renting from IndiaBikes.com was excellent. I'm back from my five week trip and everything went very smoothly with the rental and the bike was reliable. Good service and a good price for the rental.

I wasn't able to find much information on them before I left so hopefully this will help someone else in the future.

    Cheers!

Thanks for posting your experience as I know renting in India can be a bit hit and miss. It also sounds like you survived Indian roads intact which is something of an achievement in it self, the term every day an adventure was invented to describe riding there.

Ha! You're not kidding about those roads! It's kind of a miracle both the bike and I survived!

I emailed him and never got a response. There wasn't much to be gleaned from his website either. I heard only good things about him by could never get any reply.

Email in India anywhere is a crapshoot at best. I showed up, gave them money and left town. You could call, they always answered.

If anyone here is wanting to hire or buy a bike in Delhi one of the best starting points is Karol Bagh where you'll find lots of motorcycle shops and parts. A good place to stay is Hotel Southern http://www.hotelsouthern.com/ it's expensive for India but good to get started as it close to all the bike shops.

As Schleprock said above Lalli Singh rents good reliable bikes although there are many deals to be had so do look around.
Be patient and remember things are done very differently in India. A smile goes a long way to getting things done.
