Jim, thanks for having us. My neighbors also appreciate it!
Good food & beverage, a great working space and tools
(we tried our hand at "stump the host" but he had TWO kinds of easy outs)
and there was an excellent pool of talent and personalities.
The weather was excellent.
If you wern't riding sometime today, check your pulse or consider a career change.
Well... ok, maybe you can ride tomorrow instead.
Nice to meet all you FF today and I look forward to riding with you soon.
Thanks again for opening your shop to us and for your advice. Also a shout-out to MolMon, DCRider, and Porcupine224 for their assistance during the course of the day.
Great meeting everyone today!
Jim, I really appreciate the hospitality and all your help/advice with my bike. Good food, great people, I definitely look forward to the next Tech Day. Thanks again.
Start with an inviting location:
Add a generous morning meal:
And they will come:
There was some thought:
And following an unexpected sheared bolt and some noodling on how to fix it, there was some good-hearted laughter:
Wisdom was shared:
Packing was packed:
Tires were changed:
Much work was done:
And then it was time for lunch:
Which inspired the creation of a jvb headlight guard:
Some cool tools were used:
Some folks rode quite a distance:
Some folks had just traveled round the world:
While some folks were simply louder than others:
And yes, to top it off, there was porn, bike porn. . ..:
A great day was had by all, and many thanks to the jvb clan for making this possible!
JVB, many thanks too, great to meet others and watch the wrenching. And super thanks for feeding us all
Jim - a big thanks to you for a generous tech day full of good food and great tips. And thanks to all the other "helpers" who it made maintenance more fun. I look forward to seeing you guys on the open road
Jim Thanks for hosting, it was a great tech day. Thanks for the great burgers. I really enjoyed it and meeting everyone. I look forward to helping more at the next tech day. I should of stayed longer, the traffic to Bobs BMW open hse was a disaster and wasn't worth the time or stop and go ride. Thx again.
Thanks for the hospitality Jim!
Jim, thanks a lot! It was an incredible day. Food, bikes, company- everything was just great! I had a lot of work done and had a great time. Next time we should have name tags with adv nicks and avatars, because I still don't know which forum users I met.
Great day for the tech day. Got my front tire changed. Thanks for the help Jim.
It was great to meet everyone and absorb the tips and wisdom throughout the day. A good mix of bikes and personalities were on hand, great weather, food and drink. A big thanks to you Jim for putting this together, very well done!
Oh yeah...To boot this event was Batman certified, what are the odds that nobody had a camera on hand... no pics, but it happened!
Pretty sure this is the guy who gave us a roll-by:
Almost forgot, we also saw Batman. Yes, Batman, in full regalia in the Batmobile. And for those who were out front when he passed by , here's a pic of the $200K vehicle that I missed:
He's known as the "Route 29 Batman." Apparently, he's driven cross-country raising money for children.
fund raising batmobile!
Thank you mucho benevolent Jim, catching up was worth it. Pleasure meeting you, family and friends, Bikernomad, porcupine224, 1man2wheels and everyone (sorry I did not get the name of the other inmates who was there noon to adjourn).
It was a good tech learning day for me (if not for everyone), bits of information always help. Also found new applicable inexpensive farkles/gadgets I can use on my all rounder.
Looking forward to more fun filled tech days, maybe another one this year (can not find "poke" smiley)...
Thanks everyone! I had a great time and met a bunch of new ADV Riders I had met in the past, and saw several old friends.
I had a great time helping as much as I could, and appreciate all the assists from other very knowledgable riders.
Particular thanks to NoVA Rider for his photos and his extra lift. Also to Tina, Umberto and Kelly for the cooking and shopping. Great burgers. Finally to my wife for her patience with all the work that went into the set-up for this.
My wife and Kelly, Tina and Umberto's Daughter.
Umberto cooking away!
I really look forward to number three!
I've read the article on him and bummed I missed seeing him ride buy....Doesn't Batman also have a motorcycle.......
You should be warned before the "next time"...
Someone mentioned they had a DR 650 in boxes just waiting for reassembly.
Now that would be a "tech" day.
What a great day we had! Thanks Jim, wife, and neighbors, for putting on the friendlist bike wrenching day I'd ever been to. You have been super good to the ADV guys, providing wisdom, tools, a place to work, a lift, and warm friendship. I almost forgot, free food too! And really, to top it off, we have a free online picture album to help us remember the fine time we had on April 27, 2013. Blessings and great rides to you all!
Thanks for the kind words George! I really enjoyed meeting you, and you infectious smile and good humor was welcomed by all!
