    Hello,
Tossing around the idea of flying and renting a motorhome in August. Any idea of the best company to rent from, looking for a newer unit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

There will be some RV rental places in and around Anchorage, and most likely one or two in the Fairbanks area. Keep in mind, if they KNOW you will be traveling up to Deadhorse, or even the Arctic Circle, they add a premium to the rates.

Same with most motorcycle rental places in Alaska. If they KNOW you are going up to Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay...expect to pay more for that bike rental.

Rick, Call me... I have the standard and not so standard referrals. Not sure of availability, but the ones I'll recommend all have units within 2-3 years old max.

I'm in the same boat. We have relatives coming for a few weeks on the 10th of September and we would like to show them around Alaska. We're looking for a motorhome to rent, preferably not one of those with the photos plastered all over them. (I'm not interested in looking too much like a tourist). We'll have four adults and an eleven year old and won't be going off the pavement.... well maybe the Denali Highway if it looks fairly dry. Any referrals would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

I've rented from ABC and Great Alaskan Holidays both 2 times. No complaints from either. Plan on doing it again next summer.

Finished our Alaska tour with the motorhome. It was a great experience with Great Alaska Holidays, rental. Only thing I had an issue with was a rock which cracked the windshield. Hope my insurance company pays the bill.
It was a good trip and was busy every day. Enjoyed the state fair in Wassilla, wish we had more time.

Emm ... You mean the state fair in Palmer. :nod It's never been in Wa-silly. I'm sure you really meant to say Palmer. :D
History: The first fair there was in 1936, a year after the arrival of the first Matanuska Valley colonists during 'The Great Depression' era.
My grandparent’s family, including the then 16 year old kid that would be my father, was one of those families. Somewhere this 2 minute 23 second vid.

Glad to hear you had a good time, kildala2000.

Wow, Tom, I didn't know that about your family! Way cool and glad you shared the clip. A year or 2 ago during Pioneer Days in Palmer, I met a gal named Rose Marie “Tiny,” maiden name Vickaryous now married name of Depriest, who was just a little baby when her family moved up.

I love the Fair and go multiple times a year. Besides always seeing a bunch of friends, it's a nice mc distance and we get to park right next to the entrance near Palmer. Just yesterday, Joanie and I ran into Georgia & Jimi Trueblood, Kenness that used to work the Parts Dept at TMS, and a few other mc friends. And now, we're headed back there again today to catch a Beatles Tribute Band. Then again next Sunday for AK Native Heritage Day. Good times.

    Thanks Tom,
Sorry, yes Palmer, my mistake. That is truly amazing history on how everyone came to Alaska for the land and a great place to raise a family. Truly love your state.
